Promotional content for The Order: 1886 continues to roll out.

It goes without saying that Ready At Dawn’s newest game, The Order: 1886, wasn’t received as the smash hit that they had hoped and expected it to be. The pre launch leaks and controversial game length, which of course will vary from player to player, followed by the post launch conversations regarding overall quality and those debatable “cinematic” black bars did little to cement its place in history as a classic.

But having said that, the game certainly did nail its vision of an alternate timeline London where the modern equivalent of the Knights of The Round Table do battle with steam punkish weaponry. The trailer shows a brief jaunt through some of the game’s action sequences with some dry British banter being thrown in between Galahad and Isabeau.

The delivery of Galahad’s lines, which come quickly and without missing a beat are perfectly countered by Isabeau’s wounding retorts. The Order may not have shocked you in terms of gameplay, but it’s characters are certainly charming.

Including some insight into the original conception of the game.

The Order: 1866, the first notable exclusive the PlayStation 4 is getting in four months, is almost here, and if you have been awaiting Ready at Dawn’s debut PlayStation 4 effort, then you’re in luck, as we were treated to an avalanche of information today, courtesy of an interview with Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya by Taiwanese website Bahamut’s Crazy Arcade.

Weerasuriya had a lot to share- he stated that there is no difference between high and low resolution assets, everything is equally detailed at all times. He confirmed that the sceneries and areas in the game are, contrary to whatever we have been shown so far, very expansive- in fact, they are expansive enough that he stated that this game could not have been done on the previous generation of hardware.

He confirmed that while the story and the weapons are fictional, the team did extensive research into the history of the era the game is set in to make it come off as authentic and believable. He also confirmed that the Order 1866 has been a long time coming- Weerasuriya started working on the game’s story ten years ago, and the game was conceptualized around then. Unfortunately, the team agreed that no console on the market back then would do it justice, so they waited while they worked on a variety of action games to hone up their skills.

The Order: 1866 launches this month. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more.

Ready At Dawn shows off some impressive tech. And werewolves. Lots of werewolves.

Ready At Dawn just doesn’t stop. Their on-stage demo of The Order: 1886 at this year’s E3 may still be fresh in our minds, but the company has just released the second video in their ongoing behind-the-scenes series via the PlayStation Blog. This one is entitled “The Evolution of the Half-Breeds,” and focuses on the Lycans, the werewolf-esque enemy we saw in the stage demo.

It’s a pretty impressive video in which Ready at Dawn discusses the concept behind the Lycans and the design process behind their look. The Lycans were designed to look real, and still resemble their human forms. The most impressive bit that the video touches on is the technology behind the transformations. The tech allows Ready At Dawn to manipulate the characters in real time, making the hair growth, transforming skeleton, and anatomy changes all the more impressive. It’s good stuff, especially if you’re interested in the technology behind the game, or the ideas that influenced the enemy design.

The Order: 1886 is set to release on February 20th, 2015. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more as it develops.

And MLB 14: The Show

Sony is currently holding a media summit for the North American press, where they will be talking about several things, including the upcoming collection for the Sly games. However, according to the schedule given below (which was confirmed by DualShockers), Sony will also be giving some info on inFamous: Second Son, The Order: 1886 and MLB 14: The Show.

Reportedly, media attendees will be seeing some interesting new stuff, some we can expect a massive info blowout for the three games coming soon.

However, the info will be under embargo, so we might have to wait about a week for the information to actually be released. The embargo for inFamous: Second Son, however, will drop a little earlier- later today- as will the embargo for MLB 14. So expect information, videos and screenshots soon.

We’ll be following up on this constantly, so stay tuned for more info.

LandStalker Props is working on some of the weapons and equipment that has been revealed so far by Ready at Dawn and Sony Santa Monic Studios’ upcoming PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886, and is currently in the planning stages. Some of the blueprints of the weapons are given below, and we’ve also provided the official artwork by the developers for you to compare.

The designs look pretty good, especially the combo gun, but the grenade launcher also looks pretty good. Have a look below.

The Order: 1886 follows the story of knights in an alternate history 18th century England, in which half beast – half man creatures threaten the security of the society after some humans developed bestial traits in the seventh or eighth century.

As humanity comes under martial law in these troubling circumstances, the society goes on the brink of civil war, with the lower classes rebelling against the rulers.

The Order; 1886 later this year- no specific release date yet- for the PS4. Stay tuned for more info.

Upcoming game will avoid boring, grindy, repetitive sections.

Ready at Dawn’s upcoming game, The Order 1866, is finally getting a massive info dump, letting players know more and more about the mysterious PlayStation 4 title. Speaking to EDGE, director Ru Weerasuriya pointed out that the game will not bore players with grindy, boring, repetitive sections.

‘Beyond that, we also tried to make the moment-to-moment gameplay different. We didn’t want it to be a grind for 40-45 minutes because you’re in shooting mode. Everything in the game happens in little bursts, and that really makes you not dwell too much on one thing that might otherwise bore you’

One way Ready at Dawn is managing this is by offering a healthy mix of melee and shooting.

‘Rather than just making a third person game, we took it upon ourselves to figure out why we like them. Not everybody likes third person shooters for the same exact reason, so we tried to figure out what the core elements were [that] we wanted to keep, and also add that element of what we’ve done in the past – for example, melee.

Shooters have a tendency to be very light or canned on melee. We wanted to find new ways of introducing it that would keep you feeling you were in a shooter that’s evolved into something else, rather than been segmented. It started with us trying to figure out how we balance the two, shooter and melee, but then it evolved into us making this shooter with different melee systems.’

The Order 1866 is due for release some time next year exclusively on PS4.

Sony is known for supporting new IPs and one off projects with no franchise potential; Sony Santa Monica Studios, on the other hand, have been notorious for sticking with one IP constantly for the last eight years, milking it almost beyond the point of tolerance.

During the tech demo for the game at Gamescom, Ready at Dawn CEO Ru Weerasuriya told VG247 mentioned that the game might be the first in a planned franchise taking place in a Steampunk, post industrial London.

It’s not exactly ground breaking news, because of Sony Santa Monica’s aforementioned penchant for milking their franchises and games, but honestly, I’m not even complaining at this point. The Order 1866 looks like it has some great potential for interesting gameplay experiences.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage on this game, as well as other news incoming from Gamescom.

The Order: 1886 was announced at this year’s E3 during Sony’s press conference on June 10th. The title’s announcement brought a ton of excitement for the PlayStation fans, but it also raised a lot of questions due to the fact that the reveal in-game engine trailer was a bit vague in terms of gameplay details.

Take a peek right down below for the E3 2013 Announcement Trailer.

What exactly is The Order: 1886? Is it an action game, a first-person or a third person? Thankfully, the Official PlayStation Blog has answered some of those questions today, so please have a look at the fact sheet below.

1 – The game is a third-person shooter

2 – It’s set in London, and the game will try to re-create London in terms of the events that occurred back then and things like that. However, this will not be a 1 to 1 recreation of London.

3 – This game is Ready At Dawn’s first brand new IP that they’re developing themselves and it’s being created for the PlayStation 4.

4 – The game is solely a single-player experience with a linear-story.

PlayStation Blog has also confirmed that more gameplay details will be revealed soon, so stay tuned for more information hopefully at Gamescom.
