Maxis’s The Sims 4 is now available in North America and though Europe is yet to receive the game for PC and Mac, it’s already received its first patch to correct existing issues. This day one patch has also apparently been issued to prevent crashes from happening in Create A Sim and Build mode.

It seems you won’t be able to date the Reaper any more either with this patch so those who thought you two had something will need to face reality. EA has noted though that, “The Reaper still loves ya baby, he is just too busy to go on a date with every lovelorn Sim that vies for his attention.”

The patch also prevents babies from going into hibernation when inside household inventories. You can check out the full list of changes here. Thoughts on The Sims 4 thus far? Let us know your impressions in the comments below.

Have you ever wanted to play as a tattooed version of EA’s Peter Moore only to have him eaten seconds later by an over-sized plant? Thanks to The Sims 4, you now can as EA showed off the character creation tools of the game at Gamescom.

It’s actually quite easy to create your own Sim and the interface is intuitive enough to quickly adjust body types, complexions, weight and so on. You can also choose different personality traits for your Sim which will influence how they behave with others. So if you want your Sim to be insane or a friend to the world or a little bit of both, you can.

That’s not all though. You can also customize your home and create a football stadium – among other things, to reside in. There are a ton of different options for interacting with Sims as well and even if Death comes to claim them, you can bargain for their lives.

The Sims 4 will release on Mac and PC on September 2nd.

Play with people's emotions for success...just like life!

The Sims Studio’s The Sims 4 will be out in September and work to bring a brand new range of features to the franchise. There aren’t pools or toddlers but the good news is, you have a whole new range of Sims emotions to play around with. And by play around with, we mean mess with until they inevitably lose it and off themselves. Check it out above.

EA claims that the ability to control feelings will allow players to build skills quicker and picking up new rewards. We’re not sure how that works unless it helps your ascension into the ranks of Simsville till you become its supreme ruler.

The Sims 4 will be out on Mac and Pac on September 2nd in North America and September 4th in Europe. Will you be picking it up? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below along with what you think about the gameplay mechanics.

The Sims Studio will be bringing out The Sims 4 in September but it’s already hiring for a new franchise. The developer featured a posting for a senior designer at Maxis for a “new, unannounced” IP. This will be the first new franchise at the studio since SimCity creator Will Wright’s departure from the company.

The job entails “creativity editors…extensive multiplayer gameplay mechanics, in-game economies, technology trees, HD, PC, and mobile and tablet companion application integration” along with “content creation tools and editors”.

Experience required includes working with “deeply social multiplayer games such as MMOs,” “crafting trees” and “character RPG-style leveling design and mathematical loot progression modeling.” It also seems that the game will be free to play and require an “understanding [of] other games in the creativity space, including LittleBigPlanet, Minecraft and its popular mods, Roblox, Disney Infinity, Project Spark, and other upcoming efforts.”

The game will apparently be monetized as well. Considering the problems EA has had with micro-transactions, it will be interesting to see how this pans out. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.

A brief ad in a recent gameplay video confirms the Premium service's existence.

Maxis finally released a new gameplay trailer for The Sims 4 to explain just why it had to leave out kids and swimming pools in this iteration but more interestingly, the video confirmed that the upcoming people management game would be receiving its own Premium service.

As Eurogamer pointed out, at 13:26 there’s an ad for The Sims 4 Premium with the description, “Become a Premium member to get early access to 3 new packs, with exclusive items. Your Sims can throw a spooky costume party, camp in the great outdoors, and toast to the new year in style.” This may be similar to Battlefield Premium, EA’s approach to Season Passes which nets you early access to all DLC packs and that too before general consumers receive them. There are also different in-game items offered, and given The Sims’ propensity for custom items and packs, it may just offer the same thing.

Maxis hasn’t indicated if this is the case but you can expect to hear some kind of confirmation on the same since The Sims 4 releases this September for PC and Mac.

Only for those who own a digital copy on Origin though.

EA has announced that it will be shutting down technical support for The Sims 2 next week. This means there will be no new updates or support for this version and certainly no new content. Fortunately, EA has revealed that users who possess a digital version of the game on Origin can upgrade to the Ultimate Collection of The Sims 2 for free.

There’s a FAQ concerning the announcement after EA originally sent out emails to players about the same. If you upgrade to the Ultimate Collection, you’ll gain more content in the process and technical support on top of that. So if you’ve been curious about all the expansion packs that’ve released since, oh, 2004 then this is your ticket.

Currently, Maxis and The Sims Studio are getting ready to introduce The Sims 4 this September which will introduce new story-telling tools along great ways to kill your Sims. It will be out on PC and Mac on September 2nd in North America and September 4th in Europe.

Everything you need to know about The Sims 4

The Sims 4 is an upcoming and hotly anticipated Life Simulation Game that will serve as the fourth main entry into The Sims franchise. The title is currently in development by Maxis (SimCity, MySims Kingdom and The Sims Online) and The Sims Studio who have worked on The Sims 3 as well as its 20 official expansions.

The Sims 4 is currently slated to be published by project owners EA.

While The Sims has appeared on consoles in the past, there has not been any mention of a console port of The Sims 4, as for now the game will only be launching on Microsoft Windows and OS X. It is expected to launch worldwide at some time in late 2014.

The existence of The Sims 4 first became public knowledge after some leaked content from the game was released onto the internet in April of 2013. The leaked video showed a mock up of the game’s user interface. Following this, EA officially announced the next installment in The Sims series: The Sims 4.

However, this time around, the game will be developed by two studios: Maxis and The Sims Studio. This obviously gave rise to a debacle of sorts among the fans since Maxis are not so popular after The SimCity DRM debacle. However, Producer Grand Rodiek revealed that the game will be an “offline, client-based game”. Also the game will be an exclusive to PC and there are no plans for a console version.

The developers have revealed that game will allow you to tell the story that the player wants, along with the combination of fun and serious approaches. Maxis have claimed that The Sims 4 will be the best simulator they have created till date as they are using new technology called as SmartSim which allows for advanced artificial intelligence across the game.

Gameplay

Gameplay for The Sims 4 will remained largely unchanged, the one main new feature is an improved Create-A-Sim mechanic and the Emotion influenced gameplay. Sims will now be able to multi task for the first time in the series, an example being the ability to move and talk at the same time. Create A Sim has been completely revamped and won’t feature the traditional sliders. The player will have the ability to push or pull on The Sim’s face and body. In short, The Sims 4 will feature in-depth customization that will be highly accessible.

Associate producer Jill Johnson has also revealed that there are no plans to add Create a Style and hair styles in the game and they are not sure whether this feature will be added later on in the game. She also revealed that even though accessories were a prominent feature in The Sims 3 where you can mix different combinations, this feature won’t be carried to The Sims 4.

Characters

As per all the usual tropes of The Sims, the players character is entirely self made. This is done via the character creation screen wherein players can create a Sim that resembles themselves or a ridiculous character of varied shape and size.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game.
