No matter how much time passes or how often we revisit them, these 15 titles remain as scary now as they did back in the day.

The horror genre is in pretty good health these days with games like Resident Evil Village and Returnal seeing success. Meanwhile, indie titles like World of Horror, Little Nightmares, Mundaun and many more continue to garner attention. And while the genre has seen its ups and downs over the decades, there are plenty of classics that remain scary to this day. Let’s take a look at 15 of them here.

Silent Hill 2

Konami struck gold with Silent Hill when it was released in 1999 for the PlayStation One. However it would be the sequel, released a mere 19 months later, that cemented itself in the halls of horror gaming. Silent Hill 2 didn’t just give us iconic horrors like Pyramid Head – it explored the consequences of one’s actions, the confrontation of deep-seated trauma, and the manifestation of one’s inner nightmares. That it was impeccably paced, well-written and atmospheric as a whole also helped distinguish it among other classics.

Things are spooky enough in these games but their endings are on another level.

Who doesn’t love a good scary ending? As time goes by, it seems less things scare us but build up the atmosphere properly and even the simplest ending can be frightening/dread-inducing. Let’s take a look at 15 such endings here.

Until Dawn – Everyone Dies

Make all the wrong decisions in Until Dawn and everyone dies. Who would have thought? Most everyone turn into Wendigos and it’s on Sam and Mike to survive by destroying the lodge when a gas leak breaks out. Of course, this can also be botched, causing the two to die in the explosion as well. Even if Josh somehow survives the whole ordeal, he’s seen in the post-credits turning into a Wendigo.
