New miniseries set in The Walking Dead universe.

Telltale Games went two for two at Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards tonight. After announcing their Batman game earlier in the evening, they went ahead and announced a brand new Walking Dead game- the previously discussed Walking Dead: Michonne miniseries, set in the same universe as their flagship Walking Dead adventure games, follows different characters, and their stories through the post apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead.

The trailer was extremely short, and very light on details (in that I can’t say I really know any more about the game, other than it exists, and this is after watching the trailer a couple of times), but at the very least, it seems that Telltale is using the same artstyle, and… yeah, that’s all I’ve got.

Anyway, the game is due out some time next year. The release date and targeted platforms are as of right now unknown. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you posted when we get more information.

Complete The Walking Dead Episode 2: Starved For Helpwith the help of this video guide.

The Walking Dead is set in the world of Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic book series. Lee Everett, a man convicted of a crime of passion, has been given the chance for redemption in a world devastated by the undead. Players experience life changing events, meet new characters and familiar ones from the original comic, and also visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sherriff Rick Grimes. The Walking Dead offers a tailored game experience – player actions, choices, and decisions affect how the story plays out across the entire series.

People can forget all their values and humanity when it comes to the question of pure survival. We’ve seen it happen before where even eating worms is an option for some precious protein. Just make that mental image in your mind because what you’re going to see in Telltale’s latest episode in The Walking Dead season will pale in comparison to eating worms for survival.

Well that’s a bit extreme, so yeah, what I’m trying to say here is that Episode 2 titled ‘Starved for Help’ raises the bar completely and provides an intriguing experience. And its a bit gross, too.

But in a way, this fantastic episode will test Lee and his gang, or whatever is left of them, by throwing certain scenarios that will not only make your stomach churn but also force you to make some tough decisions. There’s never a single dull moment here, unlike episode 1 where the pacing was a bit uneven.

Telltale have crafted this episode intelligently, where not only will you arrive at a satisfying conclusion, but will also be faced with some uncertainty about the future that will keep you anticipating for the next episode.

The episode starts off with a bang with Lee and his friend Mark, search for food and hack a zombie in the process. No, no, they won’t eat that. You always hack any zombie you see, because that’s the golden rule of survival in a zombie infested area, or shoot them. However, that could be unproductive as it would just attract other zombies.

Scratch that off the survival list, but only to be used during an emergency where you are surrounded. Also another vital lesson, this time from Telltale – try to chop of hands or legs of a trapped person instead of trying to figure out a way to free him by non-lethal means. Time, you see, is very vital. Yes, you get to make that decision in this episode, and unfortunately for me, uh, I couldn’t chop off the legs in time resulting in the dude getting eaten and converted by the zombies.

That was pretty sad in retrospect, and it is what you will be facing in this game. Telltale has turned that knob fully, and have crafted an engaging episode which is well worth the asking price, unless you already own the season pack.

The basic premise of the plot revolves over food, and with a sprinkle of bandits, which no doubt we will be seeing more of in the next episode. The entire second episode can be finished in one sitting and will take, say, 2-3 hours to complete. Of course, there’s no replayability here, considering it’s a plot heavy game or interactive drama – whichever definition you see fit.

Season pass owners get this for free, and those who don’t own it and are interested in playing it, should give it a shot because the experience it provides justifies the cost, which is quite cheap by today’s standards.

This game was reviewed on the PC.

Episode 2 was expected to launch yesterday, after an initial delay last week, but this failed to materialise. Now fan dissent is ever-growing, many expressing their distaste on the Official Playstation Blog and Twitter.

Writing on the Playstation Blog, Sony’s Jawad Ashraf attempted to address concerns “Telltale will announce anything once ready. We’re working with them on it but they’d be the ones to comment further. Sorry. I want it just as much you guys so I feel your pain.”

Both Sony and publisher/developer Telltale games had remained stoic and earlier this year Sony blamed the varies US and EU PSN releases on localisation and licensing issues: “Licensing, market and a host of other business and non-business decisions all play a part,”

“What is often forgotten is the EU consists of not just one or two countries – it includes a variety (36!), meaning a lot more localising must be done. Certain games also retain licenses only in certain territories or have expired rights.

“There’s generally so many factors that can often lead to games being delayed or totally cancelled for specific regions, and sometimes this cannot be helped.”

A recent tweet on Telltale’s twitter read: “We’re working with our partners at SCEE to finalise a release date for The Walking Dead: Ep. 2 on PSN EU. We’ll update as soon as we can.”
