CD Projekt RED confirms its four flagship releases so far have sold over 100 million units put together.

In The Witcher and Cyberpunk, CD Projekt RED has two IPs under its belt that have massive selling power, and the developer has illustrated just what that looks like in pure numbers.

During its recent investor presentation, CD Projekt RED revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher series have collectively sold over 100 million units. It’s worth mentioning, however, that that number only includes the mainline Witcher RPG series, which means sales of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales are not included in that total figure.

CD Projekt RED has also revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 has now sold over 25 million units worldwide. Its recently-released expansion, Phantom Liberty, sold 3 million units in its first week. Meanwhile, earlier this year, the developer revealed that The Witcher 3 had sold over 50 million units worldwide.

Both franchises are also already looking to the future. The next mainline Witcher game is currently in development, and will kick off a new trilogy, while a ground-up open world remake of the original Witcher is being developed in collaboration with Fool’s Theory.

Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel has also entered early development.

This is a great bunch of games!

One of the coolest things Microsoft is doing with the Xbox One X is remastering and enhancing old Xbox 360 games for Xbox One X compatibility- all free of charge. We already have some good Xbox 360 games, such as Oblivion, that have benefitted from this program- and now we know the next batch of games that will be getting One X enhancements.

On Xbox Wire, Microsoft announced that the original Crackdown would be one of the games that would be getting Xbox One X enhancements- presumably, this is to prep up players ahead of the impending launch of Crackdown 3 later this year (I hope). Fable Anniversary, the Xbox 360 remaster of the original Fable, will be another- which should serve as a primer for Fable fans, especially if news about the upcoming Fable 4 is real.

The true crown jewel of this batch, however, will be The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The game released on Xbox 360 as a console exclusive back in 2012- now, Xbox players can play it with full Xbox One X enhancements. Which is absolutely fantastic, and as good a reason as any for players to visit Geralt’s second major gaming adventure.

This brings the total number of Xbox 360 games enhanced for Xbox One X to 11- hopefully, Microsoft continues to add to that number in the future, too.

It's no Dark Souls but The Witcher series has its share of tough cookies to fight.

When we think of The Witcher series, it’s always the third game that comes to mind. The awesome side quests, the excellent world building and the memorable storyline helped make The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt one of the best gaming experiences. Of course, we tend to forget some of the more frustrating elements of the series as a result like the difficult bosses that range from easy to sadistic. Let’s a take a look at the 15 toughest bosses in the entire Witcher series.

Imlerith – The Witcher 3

Encountered in the Bald Mountain mission, Imlerith may seem tough with his enormous shield and mace. Fortunately, he’s easy to trap with Yrden and slice away from behind. Bombs like Grapeshot and Samum are also useful, and destroying his Frost Shield isn’t tough either. Take advantage of his slow movement and victory is assured.

Multiple roads don't always have to converge at the same place.

Not every ending in every game is so cut and dry. Many games boast multiple endings, prompting you to take different actions in your playthroughs. Then again, some games can take this to a crazy extreme, doling out tons of endings to unlock. Regardless, let’s take a look at 15 of the best games with multiple endings.

Spoilers are in-bound, the most recent being for Nier: Automata so keep that in mind.

Note: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of, and should not be attributed to, GamingBolt as an organization.

Fallout: New Vegas

Even with tons of bugs, Fallout: New Vegas does offer flexibility in deciding the ending. Side with the New California Republic or Caesar’s Legion, leading either to conquer Hoover Dam, or go it alone, making New Vegas truly independent. That last ending can be achieved by convincing the NCR’s General Lee and Legion’s Legate Lanius to step down. Alternatively, you can kill them because why not?

Raking in the moolah, and well deserved too.

CD Projekt RED has been persistently working away at The Witcher series, putting out highly acclaimed games – none more so than 2015’s superlative and genre defining The Witcher 3, but still – steadily. The result is that CD Projekt’s series has been rewarded with extremely high sales, especially for RPGs, which until recently, didn’t sell all that well.

How high? Since 2007, The Witcher series has sold 25 million units worldwide, the company confirmed in its latest financial briefing.

“For years we have consistently prioritized quality and focused on a limited range of products. The persistently strong sales of the entire The Witcher series vindicate our approach and contribute to long-term appeal of our releases. Between the launch of The Witcher in 2007 and the end of 2016 we have sold over 25 million copies of The Witcher games,” Adam Kiciński, President of CD PROJEKT, noted with pride.

“This year we will continue to expand The Witcher brand – it is, after all, the year of GWENT. We’re in the process of organizing the game’s first major tournament, with a $100,000 USD prize pool. Another crucial round of beta tests will commence in spring, with the retail release to follow in the second half of 2017.”

The Witcher series may not actually be over- CD Projekt recently admitted that not making a fourth game in the series would be almost irresponsible of them. While a fourth game is not yet announced, if it were to release, it’s safe to presume it would not star Geralt of Rivia, since his story was concluded with Wild Hunt. Maybe it could star Ciri?

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves here- before any of that happens, we need to finally see CyberPunk 2077, which hopefully is due out by June 2019.

Geralt's second adventure, now free for all Xbox owners.

Earlier today, Microsoft made another dozen Xbox 360 games playable on the Xbox One; these were mostly Xbox Live Arcade games, but the crown jewel of this batch was The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings. The second installment in CD Projekt RED’s Witcher saga had seen an Xbox 360 release back in May 2012, and that version is now playable on the Xbox One as well.

That’s not all, though- The Witcher 2 is also being offered for absolutely free to all Xbox users, until February 5- this isn’t an Xbox Live Gold promotion or anything, and there are no strings attached. You get the game for free, just like that. You just have to go to Xbox.com to redeem your copy. You can get the game as long as you own some Xbox, meaning that you don’t even need to own an Xbox One for this- Xbox 360 owners are welcome to the party, too.

That’s really an awesome goodwill gesture, right there.

Microsoft continues to bolster the lineup of Xbox 360 games that are playable on the Xbox One, thanks to their backwards compatibility initiative- over 100 games are playable on the system, and more continue to be added periodically.

Today, Microsoft has added another dozen games to the backwards compatibility list on the Xbox One- pretty much all of these are Xbox Live Arcade games, so a lot of you may not necessarily see much value in them, but the crown jewel of this batch is The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings– the excellent Xbox 360 version of CD Projekt RED’s second entry in the Witcher saga can now be played on the Xbox One, allowing many the chance to play through more of Geralt’s adventures. Not only that, but The Witcher 2 is also being offered for absolutely free to all Xbox users, until February 5- this isn’t an Xbox Live Gold promotion or anything, and there are no strings attached. You get the game for free, just like that. That’s really an awesome goodwill gesture, right there.

You can check out the full list of games below.

If you were a fan of CD Projekt RED’s exemplary The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and have been interested in playing the previous games in the series, then Microsoft and CD Projekt RED will make it at least a little easier for you- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, which launched on the Xbox 360 in 2012, will be made available on the Xbox One via the console’s backwards compatibility feature.

CD Projekt RED’s community manager Marcin Momot has confirmed on Twitter that the second game in the franchise will be made available on the Xbox 360 in the future- though an exact date has not yet been nailed down. This news came alongside the slightly disappointing news that there probably won’t be any remasters of the older games for the current generation systems.

For more on The Witcher 2’s Xbox 360 version, check out our review for the game. It was pretty great back at release, though admittedly, it hasn’t aged all that well. Your mileage may vary on how the game holds up for you.

CD Projekt RED have decided to discount their flagship franchise, The Witcher, on their GoG store. All three games are available for discounted prices on the storefront- and since they are being sold through GoG, they will also all be DRM free.

You can get The Witcher for $1.49, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for $3, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for $42, and something called The Witcher Adventure Game that I did not even know existed until right about now for $4. Put together, these games cost about $50- less than the price of one new game. Plus, $42 for what is still the best game released this year is really not asking a whole lot.

You can also get The Witcher 3 for $42 on Xbox Live this week; the PC promotion will, meanwhile, last through September 10. For more on The Witcher, check out our reviews for the second and third games. And stay tuned for more coverage.

Now get back to finishing The Witcher 3.

CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will be available as a backwards compatible Xbox 360 title for the Xbox One when the functionality goes live in November. However, is there a chance that The Witcher 2 or even the first game could be remastered for the current generation?

It’s not exactly the worst idea – the popularity of The Witcher 3 proves there’s a strong audience for these games. And when they can help to set up the mythos and lore in the third game, then why not? Unfortunately, community manager Marcin Momot stated that, “That’s a really cool idea. Sadly, doubt this will ever happen.”

The reasons are obvious – CD Projekt RED is currently working on supporting The Witcher 3, which includes the major expansions that are coming up. There’s also the matter of Cyberpunk 2077. Though the developer will focus more on it in 2017, it’s likely there are plenty of resources devoted to it already. Nonetheless, we can still dream.
