Despite how you may feel about Kojima’s showing of Metal Gear Solid V at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which consisted of next generation footage for Ground Zeroes as well as showcasing how the current-gen build looks, there’s no denying the potential rife with the game. Three new videos have been released for various missions which you can view below. Also, we get a peek at the English voice over for the gameplay, which features Kiefer Sutherland’s grating rendition of Snake’s voice.

Metal Gear Solid V will consist of two portions, namely Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain with the former serving as a prologue and faux tutorial mission. The latter will be where the meat of the game lies as Kojima has stated that it will be 200 times larger than Ground Zeroes.

As of now, the game has no firm release date but will be arriving for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4.

A total of 270,197 attendees swarmed the convention across all four days.

The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association has revealed the overall attendance numbers for the recent Tokyo Game Show, which took place from September 19th to 22nd, with 270,197 people attending the convention. This means that roughly 52,345 attendees were present on the business days with the final day seeing 115,444 attendees present (as translated by Gematsu). The previous record was set by last year’s show which attracted 223,753 attendees.

The Association has also set a date and location for next year’s TGS, which will be held at Makuhari Messe from September 18th to 21st.

This year’s TGS was eventful enough with a slew of titles for the Japanese-centric user being revealed across all platforms. Footage for titles like Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid V’s Ground Zeroes section were revealed, among other things (the latter attracting its fair bit of criticism). What was the highlight of the show for you? Let us know in the comments below.

Capcom's online RPG just keeps looking better.

Deep Down has been generating a fair amount of hype since its initial reveal at Sony’s PlayStation 4 event back in February, and it’s only magnified in recent months. We now know that the game will be an online RPG – which you can still enjoy in single-player – that takes place in the year 2094, despite its medieval trappings and dragons, and features self-generating dungeons among other thigns. It will also use the new Panta Rhei engine, which enables highly detailed and photo-realistic graphics for the PlayStation 4 exclusive.

In fact, Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono revealed three new screens for Deep Down via several tweets, again showcasing the amazing visual fidelity. You’d think that Double Helix Games is busy dealing with Killer Instinct for the Xbox One (check out our interview with the developer here), but they’re also collaborating with Capcom to developer the remake of Strider. The digital downloadable title will be releasing on Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox 360 in 2014, but in the mean time, those who attend the upcoming Tokyo Game Show will have a chance to play the game.

The official website is already open and also revealed that the game will be released in Japan as Strider Hiryu. The game will see Strider return but in a fully 3D world, as a third person action adventure set in the future. It will include many of his classic moves, including the classic Cypher blade.

The soundtrack will also feature several tracks that pay homage to several tunes in the series, with Strider’s look influenced by Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. The Tokyo Game Show takes place from September 19th to 22nd.

We already got a peek at some of the characters from the franchise that will be re-debuting in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, especially Fang who joins with Lightning in battle at some point.

According to game design director Yuji Abe in an interview with Famitsu, it seems that there will be other characters who can join the player in battle, with a new character expected to be revealed at TGS 2013. These additional characters will be AI-controlled, however.

Also, despite initial estimates that the game would take 20 hours to complete, it seems that some changes were made to the Japanese version. As such, time’s flow can be interrupted in the game, and it may now take close to 50 hours to complete the first time around. Abe also confirmed that the Heart Stealer outfit was inspired by Final Fantasy VI’s Locke and costume designer Toshiyuki Itahana took shapes and colours from Yoshitaka Amano’s style to create the design.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 11th in North America and February 14th in Europe.
