Takes place after the events of Resident Evil 6.

What exactly is going on with Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps? The recently announced shooter, which was first showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2015? As it turns out, it does fit into the Resident Evil timeline, as revealed by producers Masachika Kawata and James Vance to GameSpot.

Kawata explained the reason for the name as well. “It’s almost in an ironic way that we’re using the title Umbrella Corps. If you know your Resident Evil lore, Umbrella no longer exists at this time in the universe; it’s been destroyed.”

Players will essentially take up the role as mercenaries who, according to Vance, will “go into these areas where some kind of biological terror incident may have occurred to try to extract something with value.” The mercenaries work for organizations who are working on becoming the next Umbrella essentially.

Vance did confirm that there’s “there’s no forward-facing story”, which means players shouldn’t expect a single-player campaign in the traditional sense.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps will be out on PS4 and PC in early 2016.

Bounty Hunter mode and classes discussed.

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Online 3, the competitive multiplayer mode included with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, will be going live on October 6th.

The studio also shared several new details on the different classes in the game, namely the Enforcer, Scout and Infiltrator. While the Enforcer is meant for running and gunning with heavy weapons and stamina, the Scout can use sniper rifles and is good for gathering information. It’s the Infiltrator which is best at close quarters combat and can employ stealth camouflage.

On top of this, players will have a chance to use Big Boss/Snake and Ocelot, with the former employing a rocket arm and the latter using dual revolvers. Some of the game modes were also detailed, primarily Bounty Hunter which sees two teams trying to reduce their tickets to zero. The twist is that using the Fulton on enemies resets the ticket score and can thus be very useful in certain situations.

Includes a prequel to Kingdom Hearts 3.

Square Enix will be bringing out one more Kingdom Hearts HD compilation before the release of Kingdom Hearts 3. At Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show conference, the publisher announced Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter which will include Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD, Kingdom Hearts Chi: Back Cover and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage.

The last game caught our attention because this isn’t Birth by Sleep which originally released on the PSP (and which was remixed for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix). Instead, this will be a prequel to Kingdom Hearts 3 and will prepare players for the story to come. One has to wonder if this prequel will eventually release on Xbox One, seeing as how Kingdom Hearts 3 is in development for PS4 and Xbox One.

Check out the announcement trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD: Final Chapter below and let us know what you think about experiencing this three games on PS4.

Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show lineup for this year has been revealed and it includes, well, a distinct lack of Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 15. But don’t panic just yet.

This is a preliminary roster though so expect more announcements as the show nears closer. Thus far, we can expect Dragon Quest Builders (special program), Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward (battle challenge) and Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness which will be playable. Of these, two of those games are yet to be released and look intriguing. They’re all expected on PlayStation platforms and PC which is pretty much expected given the audience in Japan.

You can look for the stage events at TGS to be live-streamed. Tokyo Game Show 2015 takes place from September 17th to 20th. What are your thoughts on the current line-up for Square Enix? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Sony's annual presentation will go on for 90 minutes this year.

Sony has announced a date and time for its yearly pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference focusing on PlayStation Japan and PS4 releases within the country. It will take place on September 15th at 4 PM Tokyo time/12 AM PST and will last four 90 minutes.

There are already a fair amount of rumours going around as to what we can expect. VanillaWare’s new title is expected to make an appearance and Level 5 may also show off something interesting. We may finally find out more about the accidentally announced Final Fantasy 12 remaster. And as long as we’re dreaming big, how about an official price drop, at least for Japan?

The press conference will also feature announcements for the PS Vita and PS3 so stay tuned for that. You can watch the livestream when the event takes place on the Japanese PlayStation Blog. What do you hope to see this year at Sony’s conference? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

While E3 2015 is yet to happen, the dates for Japan’s Tokyo Game Show 2015 have already been decided. It will take place on September 17th to 20th in Makuhari Messe located in Chiba, Japan. The expo will be organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association and emphasize the Japanese game development scene above all else.

The promotional art for TGS 2015 has also been revealed courtesy of artist Ippei Gyoubu. “Freedom” and experiencing games with more freedom than before formed the main theme for this year’s show according Gyoubu; it’ll be interesting to see how this year’s games reflect that theme.

While we don’t know which companies will be present at TGS 2015, we do know that Square Enix will be showcasing Final Fantasy 15, skipping E3 to provide the latest information on the current gen action RPG. What do you expect to see at TGS 2015? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
