Metal Gear Survive, Konami’s spin-off from the main franchise, will be showcased at the publisher’s livestream event at the Tokyo Game Show. It will appear at 12 AM PST/4 PM JST on September 17th and can be seen in the YouTube stream below when the show is finally live.

Set after the events of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Survive takes a different direction for the franchise. It focuses on MSF members who were sucked into a wormhole following the destruction of Mother Base and placed in an alternate universe full of zombie-like beings. Along with survival elements and co-op, Konami is promising the same stealth gameplay that made the Metal Gear Solid series so compelling.

At Tokyo Game Show 2016, Konami will be showcasing the “first ever gameplay demo which will include brand new information about the upcoming title.” So if the initial reveal trailer annoyed you, then at least you have some gameplay footage to help you decide whether it’s worth picking up in 2017.

Even though it has Final Fantasy 15 releasing in November along with Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake in the wings, Square Enix will be showcasing something new during next week’s Tokyo Game Show.

As per a new announcement, this new game will be an action title and it will be revealed at 9 PM PST/1 PM JST, September 15th on the publisher’s main stage. It wouldn’t be odd if this were a Japan-only title since, well, it is the Tokyo Game Show and such occurrences are hardly rare.

That being said, it’s a busy year for the company. Aside from Final Fantasy 15, there will be two new episodes for Hitman, one releasing this month, and Rise of the Tomb Raider heading to PS4. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided also recently released across current gen platforms.

For all the controversy it created when announced at Gamescom, Konami’s Metal Gear Survive will not be making an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show 2016. Interestingly, this will be perhaps the first time in a while that Metal Gear hasn’t had some kind of appearance at TGS. Then again, given the development cycle of Metal Gear Solid 5, it’s no wonder it kept popping up year after year.

Konami did announce which games would be present though. These include Pro Evolution Soccer 2017, Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2016, Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball Heroes, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel and Monsters Saikyo Card Battle. Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball Heroes will be showcased on mobile devices.

Tokyo Game Show 2016 is taking place from September 15th to 18th and is expected to have quite a few interesting things, especially with Sony’s PlayStation Meeting taking place on September 7th. As for Metal Gear Survive, it’s slated to release in 2017 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
