The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association celebrated many milestones it hit during this year's iteration of Tokyo Game Show.

With Tokyo Game Show 2025 having been wrapped up over the weekend, the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association has announced that the event attracted a massive number of attendees over its 4-day run starting on September 25 and ending on September 28. As caught by Gematsu, over the event’s entire duration saw 263,101 attendees.

The first two days of Tokyo Game Show 2025, specially designated as business days and meant to be closer to a trade show where people from the gaming industry could have meetings and network, saw 52,352 and 54,779 attendees respectively. The following to days, designated as general public days, saw 77,415 and 78,555 attendees respectively.

It is worth noting that, when compared to Tokyo Game Show 2024, this year’s event saw slightly fewer attendees. TGS 2024, for context, saw 274,739 attendees. Both this and last year’s events still saw growth over its 2023 edition, however, which got 243,238 attendees. Interestingly, the 2025 version of the event saw more attendees during the business days, but during the general public days when compared to TGS 2024.

For the sake of comparison, Tokyo Game Show 2023 saw 33,706 and 36,109 attendees on its business days, and 96,033 and 77,390 attendees on its general public days.

Along with all of this information, the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association in Japan has also confirmed that next year’s iteration of the event – Tokyo Game Show 2026 – will be held from September 17 to September 21, 2026. This will also make TGS 2025 the first time in history that the event will take place over the course of five days rather than its traditional four-day run. The event will return to Makuhari Messe, Chiba.

The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association also celebrated the fact that Tokyo Game Show 2025 featured 1,136 exhibitors from across 47 different countries and regions from all over the year. This, the trade association noted, broke previous records when it came to the number of exhibitors.

While the event itself was considered quite successful thanks to the massive amount of foot traffic it saw over the course of its two general public days, the association also noted that “business negotiations were also highly active”. According to its statement, the two business days saw 3,591 different appointments between various figures from across the gaming industry. The event saw 21 different programs streamed through the event’s official social media handles across YouTube, Twitch and X as well.

This year’s Tokyo Game Show saw quite a few announcements, with some of the bigger ones including Microsoft officially unveiling the next entry in its Forza Horizon franchise – Forza Horizon 6. While not too many details about the game have been revealed as of yet, the teaser trailer did confirm the fact that the Horizon Festival will be taking us to the various streets in the cities, towns and countrysides of Japan and tapping into the country’s unique car culture.

The event was also attended by a host of major companies, including Capcom, Sega, Konami, Koei Tecmo, and PlayStation. The show floor also featured many upcoming titles with hands-on demos, including Resident Evil Requiem running on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The theme for Tokyo Game Show this year is "Trailblaze the World through Gaming."

The main visual for Tokyo Game Show 2024 has been unveiled by organiser Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (via Gematsu). The art, which you can see above, features a vibrant colour palette, with a seeming emphasis on white and blue, and was created by illustrator Kukka.

The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association has also revealed that the theme for Tokyo Game Show 2024 will be “Trailblaze the World with Gaming”. Following tradition, the event will be held in September this year, from September 26 to September 29.

Traditionally, Tokyo Game Show events have been the home for several Japanese developers to showcase their games to the world, often for the first time. While bigger Japanese companies like Square Enix and Capcom are present, the event also offers a place for smaller studios from the country to showcase their upcoming titles.

Since it’s still quite early, video game companies haven’t yet confirmed their presence for Tokyo Game Show 2024. As the year goes on, however, we’ll likely see a host of different studios and companies announcing their presence at the event.

Among other things, Microsoft will also be revealing "exciting new games coming to Xbox Game Pass."

Tokyo Game Show is set to kick off later this month on September 21, and over the course of several days, the event will see several major companies talking about some of their biggest upcoming releases. Microsoft was confirmed to be in that list some time back, and now, the company has offered more details on what its plans for the event will entail.

Microsoft has announced an Xbox Digital Broadcast that will air at 6 pm JST / 9 am UTC / 2 am PDT. on September 21. The event will feature “progress updates” from both Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, as well as “a creatively diverse collection of games from creators predominantly located in Japan and across Asia”.

Meanwhile, Microsoft says it will also be revealing new games coming to Xbox Game Pass. The broadcast will be available in Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Malay, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, French, German, and Castilian Spanish.

What exactly Microsoft will announce during the broadcast remains to be seen, but there’s a pretty good chance that we’ll be hearing more about Final Fantasy 14’s long-awaited Xbox version, which is due out next Spring.

Reports have previously claimed that Konami has long-awaited revivals in the works for Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear Solid.

Gamescom has wrapped up, but it won’t be long before the next big event of the year rolls around, with Tokyo Game Show 2022 set for mid-September. The event will see a number of major publishers convening to make new announcements and provide updates on upcoming titles, and it seems that list will include one rather unlikely name.

Konami’s TGS 2022 website has now gone live, and it provides details on what to expect from the company at the event. One particular title in the list provided catches the eye though- Konami says that during a stage presentation on September 16, it will announce a new title in a “world-loved series.” Japanese voice actor Yuki Kaji will also be on stage to “represent” the series’ fans.

Konami has been in the rumour mill frequently of late, with the company rumoured to be working on major revivals for a number of its franchises. As per leaks, this includes a number of new Silent Hill games, a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, and a new Castlevania game.

As per VGC, however, the announcement at TGS is unlikely to be related to any of those. The outlet writes in its report that as per its sources, Konami is saving those big announcements for events being held later in the year.

So what could Konami be planning for TGS 2022? As per a recent report, it seems the company has remasters of Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3 in development that it plans on announcing soon. Read more on that through here.

The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association has announced that the 2022 edition of the Tokyo Game Show will be held from September 15th to 18 as an in-person event.

The annual Japanese video game expo Tokyo Game Show – which is hosted by Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESI), and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. – will be returning later this year. Starting on September 15 and running up until September 18 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, the show is going to be an in-person event again, and will be open for visitors.

CESI announced the theme for this year’s expo, with the tagline “Nothing Stops Gaming.” CESI elaborated on the reason for the theme, saying that even though the last two years were pretty tense given the situation arising with the pandemic, gaming helped in lighting up everyone’s days, and will continue to do so in the future. They said: “Over these two years, various fun events disappeared from our daily life, but games still lightened up our days. Games will continue to brighten up the days of everybody now and forever—this year’s theme implies such strong determination.”

Tokyo Game Show 2022 will have programs in Japanese with a live English interpretation, just like every year. Popular programs such as demos of the latest and upcoming games, a virtual tour experience, and the Tokyo Game Show VR area have also been planned.

Nintendo says it will have no exhibits or booths at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, while rumours have indicated that the publisher could have a new Direct presentation planned for this month.

Tokyo Game Show 2021 will be kicking off at the end of the month, and details about which companies and games will be there in some capacity have started filtering in of late. At the same time, so, too, have details about who won’t be there- like Nintendo.

The Japanese company recently took to Twitter to confirm in no vague terms that it won’t have any exhibits or booths at TGS 2021 in whatsoever, so head into the show with your expectations firmly in check. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any Switch games at the show- third party publishers might still bring their upcoming games, like Square Enix is doing with Project Triangle Strategy. We might also see more of Shin Megami Tensei 5 during Atlus’ mega-stream, though that hasn’t yet been confirmed.

Of course, some leaks have suggested that Nintendo has another Direct planned for some time in September, so perhaps the month won’t go by without too much Switch-related news after all. Again though, that remains unconfirmed for now.

Tokyo Game Show will kick off on September 30. The likes of Capcom, Xbox, Square Enix, Koei Tecmo, Konami, Atlus, and many more have confirmed they will be attending.

Other publishers such as Sega, D3 Publisher, Konami, Arc System Works, and more are confirmed to have a presence at the event.

Tokyo Game Show 2021 is going to kick off at the end of this month, and should feature several updates and announcements over the course of a few days. With the event getting closer, its full schedule has now also been revealed, which reveals new details about which publishers and developers are going to be there in what capacity.

On the first day, which is September 30, both Xbox and Capcom have 50 minute-long streams, with Microsoft promising “some exclusive news and content”, though it remains to be seen exactly what that will be. Square Enix will also have a stream later that day and will share “latest news about [their] upcoming titles.”

With the likes of Forspoken and Final Fantasy 16 currently in the works, there’s definitely plenty to hope for where Square Enix’s TGS show is concerned- though of course, there’s every chance that Final Fantasy 16 does not show up, based on what producer Naoki Yoshida has said in the past. Of course, Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker might show up as well.

Other companies with confirmed livestreams over the course of TGS 2021 include D3 Publisher, Konami, Koei Tecmo, 505 Games, Ubisoft, Arc System Works, miHoYo, NCSoft, and more. Sega has previously also confirmed three days of Atlus streams to go alongside TGS 2021- read more on that through here.

Tokyo Game Show kicks off in a couple weeks, and major publishers have started revealing the lineup of games they’ll be bringing with the to the show. Capcom might be making headlines with a new Resident Evil announcement, but Bandai Namco aren’t far behind, with their announced lineup of games featuring some heavyweights.

Tales of Arise and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot are both major names in that list of games. Both games will also have dedicated livestreams shown, which will also have an English interpreter for wester audiences, in addition to a new trailer. Dragon Ball Z: Karakot will also be playable for the attending public. Meanwhile, Code Vein will also have a livestream and be playable, a couple of weeks ahead of its worldwide launch at the end of September.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 will also be receiving the same treatment. Meanwhile, we can also expect a new trailer for the recently announced Little Nightmares 2. Other games in the lineup include Digimon Survive, Tekken 7, Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris, and more.
More information incoming on September 10.

SNK is a company known for a lot of classic video game franchises, such as Metal Slug and The King of Fighters. So right about now, a lot of people must be very excited about what they’ve got planned next, because it looks like they’re working on a new project- they’re teasing this upcoming title with a new countdown site.

Even the link for the site has the words “snknewgame”, so there’s no doubt regarding what it’s all about (not that there should have been any doubt). However, at this point there’s no way to know what exactly they’re teasing, so your guess is as good as mine.

As you can see in the countdown site, we can expect to know more about their new game on September 10, which is just a week away. There are also the words “A new dawn rises…” displayed below the date. It’s likely that more information about this project will also be revealed at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, which will begin on September 20.

Any guesses on what exactly SNK might be teasing? Let us know in the comments.

The Japanese games trade show is already primed to be the biggest one yet.

Tokyo Game Show isn’t beginning until this September, but according to the Japanese Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association, the folks who actually organize the event every year, it’s already breaking records. As of July 3, 366 companies are lined up to exhibit at the show, with 2,166 booths- last year at this time, the number was 311, so this year’s show is trending far higher.

The number of booths, too, is far beyond the previous record of 2,009 booths in 2016, and the Japanese Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association expects that the number of booths this year will be at least 2,200 by the time the showfloor opens. The show’s global reach is increasing as well- exhibitors from thirty different countries have signed on to participate, and the number is only expected to go up.

If you’re interested in following this year’s TGS, it will be held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, a little outside Tokyo. It will run from September 20 to September 22. GamingBolt, as always, will be there with the coverage.
