Fall Guys is keeping the crossovers coming, and in a story we’ll file under “nobody saw this coming,” Tron is the next game coming to the best game about jelly beans. This isn’t the first time Fall Guys has gotten a major crossover, and it’s not likely to be the last, but it made a little more sense when Godzilla found his way into the game. Seriously, who was asking for Tron?

Four outfits names after various characters from the movies – Sark, Tron, Rinzler, Quorra – will be coming to Fall Guys. Fall Guys’s current season, Season 4, is future-themed so it’s not a bad fit when you think about it. Sark will be available in the in-game store for 22,000 kudos, while the other three will be a part of a paid DLC pack. The pack will be releasing on May 24th.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is currently available on PS4 and PC. Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game are in development, but were recently delayed. Cross-platform play is also coming in the future. Developer Tonic Games Group was recently acquired by Epic Games.

Tonic Games Group has recently been acquired by Epic Games, which means that Mediatonic’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is now officially part of the Epic Games “family.” The developer insisted that this wouldn’t result in any changes to the gameplay and that the Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions were still coming. But what about the Steam version?

In its own statement, Mediatonic stated that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will “remain purchasable on Steam and PlayStation.” Those who currently own the title will “still be able to play it from there and will receive future updates.” It also discussed features from Fortnite and Rocket League (Psyonix is also owned by Epic Games) that it would like to bring to Fall Guys, including cross-play, squad vs. squad modes and more.

Interestingly, regarding whether the game would be going free-to-play, the developer simply stated, “Nothing to announce right now!” Furthermore, it will continue to stay “super close” to the community and “take on all of your suggestions and feedback.”

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is currently available for PS4 and PC. It will release for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S this Summer.

Tonic Games Group, which is responsible for Mediatonic’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, is joining Epic Games. According to an official statement on Epic Games’ site, fans won’t see any changes to the title and Epic “will continue to invest in making the game a great experience for players across platforms.” You can also still expect it to release on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One this Summer.

Tonic Games Group co-founder and CEO Dave Bailey stated, “At Tonic Games Group we often say that ‘everyone deserves a game that feels like it was made for them.’ With Epic, we feel like we have found a home that was made for us. They share our mission to build and support games that have a positive impact, empower others and stand the test of time and we couldn’t be more excited to be joining forces with their team.”

Co-founder and chief games officer Paul Croft further added, “Beyond the shared vision among our teams, we see tremendous potential in combining forces with Epic. Whether it’s about making our own games the best they can be or empowering other game developers to take their content from a kernel of an idea to commercial success, we know that together we will be able to reach greater heights.”

Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney noted, “It’s no secret that Epic is invested in building the metaverse and Tonic Games shares this goal. As Epic works to build this virtual future, we need great creative talent who know how to build powerful games, content and experiences.” This will undoubtedly lead to the Fall Guys making some kind of appearance in Fortnite or, alternatively, Fortnite outfits premiering in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

Given the success of Mediatonic’s “battle royale meets game show” party title, which sold more than 11 million copies on PC as of December 2020, it makes sense that Epic would be interested. However, it wasn’t mentioned whether Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout would remain available on Steam or eventually become exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Psyonix’s Rocket League eventually went this route, though current players on Steam still receive updates and support.
