The main rules to keep in mind for this list are that we deliberately avoided major crossover titles like Smash, PlayStation All Stars and MvC because then it would be no fun, and that really, that fun, is what this is all about, so you probably shouldn’t take it any more seriously than we are, which is not at all.

We begin our journey in the inconspicuous little golf game, Everybody’s Golf 5, perhaps better known in North America as Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds on PS3 takes us for a relaxing day on the links. As it turns out, even patricidal Greeks get a bit of downtime now and then. Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta, was introduced to the game in 2008 as a playable DLC character, where he could channel his unquenchable rage into something a bit more productive, using a rather unique chain club. Since this was before 3, I guess he chilled out between his latest PS4 game by taking up pottery instead?

It’s probably easy to forget given their delay, and given that the game itself is such a wreck, but Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 was due to launch on the PS3 and Xbox 360 eventually too- if it had stuck to its original timeline, it should have been out by now, although the last gen versions were delayed to first get some fixes for the PS4 and Xbox One versions out of the door.

Now, it seems like in the UK, at least, there will be no way to join in on the latest Tony Hawk game if you own a PS3 or an Xbox 360- Activision, confirming the last gen versions’ launch later this week, have also confirmed to Eurogamer that “[the last gen versions of the game are] not releasing in the UK on [the Xbox 360 and PS3] platforms at this time.”

I suppose the last gen market in the UK isn’t big enough to warrant the costs that launching those versions would entail. I suppose it’s a shame if you still own only a PS3 and/or Xbox 360, and were holding out for a game with as universally bad reception as this one, but I mean, take this as a sign that you should upgrade your console. Or buy a game that doesn’t suck. Or both.

Guitar Hero is not the only classic series from its catalog that Activision is reviving this year- their once all conquering Tony Hawk Pro Skater series of skateboarding games is also going to return with Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, and in this new development video, Activision share some of the development challenges involved in bringing the game back to life, specifically focusing on translating the classic arcade style of the games to modern consoles.

“Activision and Robomodo have really worked closely with the pros to make sure Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 feels true to the original series, and that is obvious when you’re playing,” said Tony Hawk. “There is a great mix of styles and personalities in the game – and it’s a blast to see each skater represented to the last detail.”

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 will be launching on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 2; a far more stripped down, budget priced version of the game will also be made available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 10.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 will have the kind of soundtrack that should instantly make any fans of the older, classic games feel right at home. Although not many (or any) songs that used to be synonymous with the series will feature in the new game, the general sound and feel of the new songs should be comfortingly familiar to most fans.

Recently, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 underwent a dramatic visual overhaul, going from the underwhelming realistic look the game had had before to a more stylized, striking look. Apparently, however, this was not a makeover, elicited in response to criticism the look of the game had been getting- this is how the game had always been meant to look.

Speaking to Gamespot, the CEO of developer Robomodo Josh Tsui said the new look is just the realization of what the developers had always intended for the game’s look.

“This is the design we’ve been working on for a while,” he said.

“The game has been evolving for a long time, and we’ve pushed the visual style forward in increments to balance it alongside other technical benchmarks and gameplay and multiplayer optimizations.

“We’ve achieved that, so now fans are seeing a better-looking game,” he said.

I mean, I’m not sure I buy into that, but at the very least, the game is looking better for this change. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will launch on PS4 and Xbox One in September, and on Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year.

In what is increasingly becoming a trend for Activision games, it was announced earlier today that the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will be getting PlayStation exclusive content. It’s nothing too big or important, nothing that Xbox owners or fans will particularly mix- there will be three character heads from Sony’s games: Ratchet, Sweet Tooth, and Sackboy for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5.

Activision also confirmed that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will not have any online play whatsoever, something that is reflected in those versions’ price (the last generation versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 cost $40, as opposed to the standard retail price of $60).

Finally, Activision confirmed that the game will be playable before launch at various locations throughout North America and Europe, though no further details were announced just yet. Well keep you posted on everything as and when it happens. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, the return of the legendary skateboarding franchise that Activision once drove into the ground with a glut of releases (they seem to have a habit of doing that), will be launching on September 29 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions anticipated to follow at the end of the year, the publisher announced today.

You can pre-order the game today, and to incentivize that, they are providing a set of bonuses. Aptly named the Totally Rad 80’s Pack, it includes the 80’s Tony Hawk Character Skin (skate as Tony Hawk from circa 1986 in all modes), 80’s Inspired Birdhouse board, and an Anti-Gravity Board. That’s right, float all over the place, shredding obstacles futuristically. All in all, the pre-order pack lets you relive Tony Hawk as he forges his legend in the decade that he actually did- the 1980s.
