Get your shotguns ready.

The Trials of Osiris, Destiny’s end-game PvP activity, started up again last night and this time the map is Anomaly. It’s an odd choice, especially since there haven’t been many times Anomaly has been the Trials map. Regardless, it’s now live so get your shotguns and side-arms ready for the close quarters battles.

The rewards for Trials of Osiris are now dependent upon wins and completing bounties as opposed to visiting Brother Vance for different tier packages (though you still need to purchase a Passage Ticket from him).

Among the rewards this week include Legendary boots for all classes and the The Unseeing Eye, a heavy machine gun which boasts high impact, rate of fire and stability but suffers when it comes to range and reload speed.

Trials of Osiris will be on-going until the weekly reset on Tuesday, 2 AM PST. It only allows for pre-made fireteams so grab a few friends or hit up LFG if you want those rewards.

Avid PvP players will have King's Fall Hard mode though.

Bungie’s Destiny saw Trials of Osiris, an end-game competitive PvP event with raid-tier loot, delayed following the discovery of a glitch with the Nightstalker’s Shadowshot ability. This glitch allowed Nightstalkers to have a near infinite number of Shadowshots by utilizing the perk “Quiver” and essentially spamming the first two shots continuously.

Though the perk has since been disabled with a new patch, this doesn’t mean Trials of Osiris is back on. In fact, a fan asked competitive multiplayer design lead Lars Bakken on Twitter whether the event would return this Friday. The response? “No, not yet. Hard Mode Raid this weekend.”

So for now, you’ll have to head into King’s Fall Hard mode if you want a challenge in Destiny this Friday onwards. King’s Fall Hard mode goes live at 10 AM PST on October 22nd. Be prepared though – sections will range from 300 Light to 320 Light at Oryx in terms of difficulty.

What are your thoughts on Trials of Osiris still being AWOL? Let us know in the comments.

Bungie recognizes lethality of "limitless Nightstalker" on competitive landscape.

A nasty little bug emerged recently in Destiny: The Taken King’s Hunter subclass, the Nightstalker. It allowed players to fire off an unlimited number of Shadowshots without having to worry about refilling their Super bar. Bungie was aware of the problem and revealed in its Weekly Update that Trials of Osiris, the 3 vs. 3 competitive game mode, has been delayed until its fixed.

In its Weekly Update, the dev said that, “We’re going to disable that bug before we invite you to take your next run at a 9-0. We’re also working on a final fix for the bug itself as soon as possible. As soon as we have a solid commitment for Brother Vance, we’ll make a formal announcement on when Trial of Osiris will begin again. We hope that most of you recognize the impact a limitless Nightstalker would have on the competitive landscape.”

What are your thoughts on the bug and Bungie’s quick response to it? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information on the upcoming fix.

The two PvP events will see a couple of changes in Year Two.

Bungie has finally dated the return of Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris PvP events in Destiny and also discussed several new changes that will debut.

Iron Banner will be back on October 12th and while Iron Medallions and alternate character buffs are unchanged, the Tempered buff is now automatically applied to your characters. You also stand a better chance of getting drops from playing matches though Lord Saladin will still sell gear (although for Legendary Marks instead of Glimmer this time). It should also be noted that nine new bounties with three dailies and three weeklies are also being added. Only level 40 Guardians can lead Fireteams though the required Light level is 230.

Trials of Osiris returns on October 16th and gear is now dispensed from winning matches with better rewards as you rack up more victories. Flawless passages still gain access to the Lighthouse and Brother Vance will now have bounties which net you rewards as well. Bungie will also make an effort to match teams with similar win records together rather than throwing a team with one victory against one with nine wins. That being said, it will work to provide low latency matches whenever possible.

You can read up on all the changes over at the Bungie Weekly Update. Thoughts on the return of both events? Let us know below.

The hardcore PvP event won't just be contested on one map this weekend.

Think you’re a top-tier Trials of Osiris player? Destiny developer Bungie has an intriguing little twist for this week’s event.

Rather than using one map for the entire run of Trials this week, the developer has decided to incorporate all six maps seen thus far. That means instead of playing the same map over and over again, you’ll have to manage close quarters of Thieves’ Den, the death doors of The Cauldron and, well, the beach of Burning Shrine. Black Shield, Pantheon and Widow’s Court will also be part of the rotation.

It’s an interesting little twist though it’s doubtful it will remain permanent. You can head over to Bungie’s Weekly Update and scope out different heat maps for previous Trials events to find out the best safe spots.

Destiny’s Trials of Osiris event goes live at 10 PM PST every Friday and lasts until the weekly reset at 2 AM PST every Tuesday. Will you be taking part in this weekend’s massacre?

This week's map is taken from The Dark Below expansion.

The Trials of Osiris has returned to Bungie’s Destiny this week and takes Guardians to The Cauldron, a map from The Dark Below expansion which features a central hub branching out into numerous passageways and platforms.

As Destiny’s end-game PvP content, the Trials of Osiris works a bit differently from normal Skirmish. Teams of three face each other to see who wins five rounds first. Respawns are disabled, which means you can only be revived by your team-mates, and you need a certain number of match wins to purchase gear from Brother Vance in the Reef. It should also be noted that each fireteam member has to purchase a scorecard and those who reach three losses first are out (until they pick up a fresh scorecard that is).

Fortunately, you can purchase buffs from Brother Vance to either forgive your first loss, start with a win on your scorecard or make the next win count for two wins. The loot this week includes The Infinite Theorem (a heavy machine gun); Cover of the Exile (Hunter helm); Hood of the Exile (Warlock helm); and Helm of the Exile (Titan helm). Thoughts on this week’s map? Let us know in the comments.

Find out everything revealed about the upcoming expansion's new PvP mode.

Bungie recently held another Twitch live-stream for Destiny’s upcoming House of Wolves expansion, this time focusing on the PvP aspect with Trials of Osiris.

Trials of Osiris is a lot like Skirmish in the Crucible. Teams of 3 battle with each other and can revive their friends when they go down. However, Trials is an elimination-based, round-oriented PvP mode. This means that if all Fireteam members go down, the round concludes. Whoever wins all five rounds at the end earns a victory for their score card. Because of the emphasis on revives, Fireteams will have to work together closely in order to succeed.

This score card is created when you pick up a Passage using coins acquired either from normal Crucible or even from the Trials of Osiris. This keeps track of your wins and losses, and the rewards are dependent on the number of wins you accrue. Pick up one win and you’ll get a bond. Pick up five wins and you’re in line for a sweet Helm or other Trials of Osiris gear. It should be noted that Trials gear also drops as a reward for taking part (along with Etheric Light, which is needed for ascending gear to the max light and damage cap).

What happens when you lose? If you pick up three losses overall, then your passage will be complete and you’ll have to purchase a new one. Rack up enough wins and you’ll be able to pick up the gear you want. And yes, quitting counts as a loss.

Brother Vance, who is in charge of the Trials of Osiris, will see a weekly refresh in his gear, providing different items for sale. He’ll also give different buffs, including forgiving the first loss, awarding a bonus victory in the first match and more. Trials of Osiris will only be playable on one map each week, starting with the Burning Shrine when House of Wolves launches, and there’s no matchmaking. You’ll need to gather Fireteam members to take part.

Community manager David “DeeJ” Dague said there would be an emphasis on connection quality when matching players with other teams and you won’t be matched to the same team again and again. Power matters, much like Iron Banner, so bring your highest level characters and gear. Each Trials of Osiris tourney begins at 10 AM PST on every Friday and concludes at the weekly reset on Tuesday.

There’s a lot that’s been revealed about Trials of Osiris and more is sure to come when House of Wolves releases on May 19th. Stay tuned in the meantime, including for next week’s reveal of the Prison of Elders.

Bungie’s new DLC, House of Wolves and the Trials of Osiris multiplayer mode that comes along with it has already been teased a little bit with a new trailer. Now a screenshot has also surfaced that shows players some endgame gear they can earn. This gear has a very distinct Trials of Osiris themed look, complete with helmets that are geared to make history buffs be reminded of ancient Egyptian culture.

Bungie is also holding a Twitch event, at 11:00 AM on April 29 in order to better show off this new DLC and game mode. Trials of Osiris is a weekly 3v3 elimination event where power levels matter the most. The more your particular 3-man team wins, the better the rewards will be for those victories. Eventually, you can get to a point where the rewards will indeed be those Trials of Osiris themed body armor and weapons that are displayed in the attached screenshot.

Destiny has come under fire almost since it was released for not offering enough content up front. That has made the excitement over new playable modes and locations that much bigger. The launch of this newest DLC is being touted as quite the video game event. One of the biggest draws of the game has always been the kind of gear you can pickup by winning faceoffs with other players, by opening various vaults or by completing missions like House of Wolves. Destiny’s House of Wolves DLC, as well as the Trials of Osiris, will go live on May 19.
