Everything you need to know about Infinite Crisis.

Infinite Crisis is an upcoming Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (commonly abbreviated to MOBA) that is based on the DC Multiverse which appears in their popular Comic Books.

The game is currently in development at Turbine and is in its open beta testing stages. Turbine is perhaps best known as being the developers who previously developed The Lord of the Rings Online.

The game was published by Turbine’s parent company Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and the title is currently exclusive to Microsoft Windows supported PC’s. Infinite Crisis is a free to play game that makes use of in-game micro transactions via an in game store.

At the time of writing Infinite Crisis has no definitive launch date outside of a vague 2015 release window. The game will not be receiving a retail release and will be available instead exclusively via digital download on the official Infinite Crisis Website.

Development

Infinite Crisis is the very first game that Turbine has developed since they were purchased by Warner Brothers in 2010. This game also marks a change in development for Turbine as Infinite Crisis is the first game that the studio has developed that isn’t an MMORPG.

However, like The Lord of the Rings before it, Infinite Crisis will be a free to play title that’s accessible to all. The microtransactions in-game has seen claims of a pay-to-win business model being leveled at the game.

Infinite Crisis’ development has been ongoing presumably since sometime between 2010 and 2013. On May 8th of 2013 the game entered its closed beta testing stages before finally entering into its open beta testing stages in March 14th of 2014.

Given that the game receives somewhat regular updates from the publisher and developer, they have announced plans to introduce a number of new heroes and villains from throughout the DC multiverse continuity of comic books.

When the game finally leaves its open beta testing stages and is released as a full product, the game will retain its free to play business model but it will also include more game modes, playable characters and more maps and stages.

Story

Infinite Crisis has a story that covers a threat to the DC Multiverse in its entirety.

Now standing upon the cusp of destruction, the combat prowess of the Multiverse’s numerous Heroes and Villains is all that can save it from certain destruction.

Gameplay

Given that Infinite Crisis falls within the MOBA category, it does of course have a number of elements that are going to be inherently similar to other, more popular, MOBA titles such as League of Legends and Defence of the Ancients 2 (Dota 2).

When players enter the battle arena they will be taking control of their chosen Champion, so long as that character is available to them, as they move forward into the game world and combat the enemy team.

Players can progress further and level up to become stronger by defeating the enemy team’s mobs or can instead gain much more experience to help speed them along the way by destroying enemy champions in combat and destroying their turrets.

Players can progress down various “lanes” when playing in the classic game mode. These three lanes are commonly referred to as Top, Mid (middle) and Bottom. The middle lane is of course still the shortest path to the enemy base but is enveloped on either side by urban jungle, which is where most ambush attacks happen

The game features a few game modes that are all played in brief sessions of 20 to 40 minutes depending on match settings and player skills and abilities. Thus far, the game is split into the following maps:

Crime Alley – This is a private map for 1 Vs AI gameplay that allows players at a new to intermediate level where they can get used to playing with their chosen champion. This map however only features one lane which keeps the practice somewhat focused and doesn’t allow for team based tactics experimentation.

Gotham Divided – This is your basic 5 Vs 5 three lane map that serves as Infinite Crises’ main and most popular map as this is perhaps its most MOBA-esque map.

Gotham Heights – This map differs a little from Gotham Divided. It retains the 5 Vs 5 combat but replaces the typical lane and destroy gameplay with that of a capture and hold ground mechanic. The map is circular in design and has 5 control points scattered across it. Standing on these points will begin the capture process which can be hurried along by having more team members standing on the point. The downside to this of course is that other spots are left vulnerable whilst your team gathers in one place.

Coast City – Coast City too retains the 5 Vs 5 gameplay of previous modes but restricts the game to two lanes with a large Urban Jungle portion that houses elite drones and a doomsday device. Players must outmaneuver the enemy team in an attempt to destroy their bases power core. The doomsday device activates a guardian that will attack the closest champion, regardless of team, who will drop a ranged weapon that can be used as an emp when destroyed.

Characters

An unspecified number of positions have been eliminated at Turbine.

MMORPG developer Turbine, best known for The Lords of the Rings Online, has revealed that an unknown number of positions have been removed at the studio.

Speaking to Massively, a studio representative stated that, “As part of our normal business process, we’re routinely looking at the strategic alignment of our company. Unfortunately, in order for us to invest in growth areas at Turbine, we have to eliminate some positions. These are always tough decisions, which we don’t approach lightly, but it’s crucial that Turbine is structured in a way that reflects the current and coming marketplace.”

This doesn’t say much about the future of the company or The Lord of the Rings Online which is experiencing some fairly decent success in the free to play market. How it will impact proceedings remains to be seen so stay tuned for more information. What are your thoughts on this though? Let us know in the comments.

Expect some new content as well.

Turbine, the developers of the incredibly popular Lord Of The Rings Online, recently released a post on their game forums that the license for the game has been renewed until at least 2017. Community Manager Rick Heaton wrote:

“We plan to support LOTRO for many years to come,.I really want to be as clear as possible on this subject to avoid any further confusion or misunderstanding. The license was renewed. We have an agreement that runs through 2017.”

Apparently there had been quite a bit of worry among Lord Of the Rings Online fans when Turbine announced that they had no plans to develop new in-game content such as missions or dungeons, and the only improvements that would likely be seen would be done to pre-existing content.

However, the author of the release article has clarified that the comments were made relative to a specific period of time, and are not representative of Turbine’s goals on Lord Of The Rings Online in general. Odds are with this license renewal we can expect to see some new content.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Turbine have announced that The Lord Of The Rings Online: Helm’s Deep is now available for PC in Europe and North America. This expansion adds quite a bit of content to the free to play MMORPG. Check out the launch trailer above.

Executive Producer Kate Paiz stated that, “Helm’s Deep, our fifth major expansion, allows players to experience one of the most iconic moments in The Lord of the Rings. Starting today they can join with the Free Peoples of Middle-earth in the Battle of the Hornburg and experience this epic conflict first hand.”

You’ll be able to take part in the battle for Helm’s Deep from level 10 onwards as you take part in the Battle of the Hornburg.
Turbine and Warner Brothers Interactive have released a new Infinite Crisis gameplay video which showcases the newest entrant into the game’s roster: Harleen Quinzel.

If you are aware of the Batman franchise then we are sure you are also aware of the fact that Harley Quinn is a former therapist fascinated by psychosis. Her love for madness drove her mad with love for the Joker. She will be added to the roster on November 18th.

Infinite Crisis is an upcoming multiplayer online battle arena and is under development at Turbine. Co-incidentally, this will be Turbine’s first ever game that will not be a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. It will also be their first independent title ever since they were purchased by Warner Brothers Interactive in 2010. The game will be released on the PC later this year.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and MMORPG developer Turbine are partnering with the Electronic Sports League to bring about a Closed Beta Series for Infinite Crisis, which is based on DC Comics’ multiverse. The game is currently in development but erstwhile players will be able to participate in the beta series over the next three months, starting from November 10th, and win prizes each Sunday.

The top eight teams will receive points with €200 going to the winner before the monthly final which sees the eight teams compete for a grand prize of €500, to be split between the top two teams. For more information on signing up for the Closed Beta Series, head here.

The massive online battle arena or MOBA game will allow players to take control of different versions of popular DC heroes, which include Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman to go with Green Lantern and The Flash. Expect the title to be released on PC in 2014.

Infinite Crisis is a soon-to-be-released multiplayer online battle arena, or MOBA, game, which is set in the real of the DC Comics universe. That means gamers will get to play as their favorite DC comic book characters as they battle their way through classic PVP oriented renderings of their favorite DC comic cities. Earlier today, WBGames, featuring the newest character addition to the Infinite Crisis universe, released the game’s latest trailer.

Arcane Green Lantern is a mix of support and enforcer character class. He utilizes his Emerald Lantern skill for both range attacks, and to increase light radius. Arcane Green Lantern also uses a similar ability to that of the Paladin’s Arua from Diablo 2, Emerald Light, which causes allies in close proximity to the Arcane Green Lantern to regain health over time.

The Construct Champion ability creates a green stained glass knight which tramples forward, dealing damage and knocking foes into the air. AGL can also use his lantern to create Shackles, which slows down nearby enemies.

Some Tips and Tricks for the Arcane Green Lantern from the video:

Use Construct Champion over walls for quick escapes, or to surprise and flank enemies.

When using Shackles be prepared to chase and throw your lantern.

Maintain awareness of your teams location, and use your skills to save them from death.

Arcane Green Lantern is best used in conjunction with artifacts that provide a boost in defense and support skills.

New video discusses the game's integration with the DC universe.

Infinite Crisis, the Warner Bros. Interactive published MOBA currently under development by Turbine, which stars characters from the DC universe, gets yet another video as WB amps up the hype in the wake of PAX Prime, and ahead of the game’s release.

The new video talks about how integral the DC universe and all the DC characters are to the game; you would, of course, be forgiven for thinking otherwise, and for assuming that Warner Bros is just shoehorning one of its most lucrative properties into a video game at any chance it gets (and indeed, with this, the Batman: Arkham series, Scribblenauts: Unmasked, and the Lego Batman games, Warner Bros. currently has four parallel properties with DC characters). However, the developers insist on the contrary, discussing how the DC universe permeates every facet of the game, from the characters to the settings and items and maps.

Infinite Crisis is about to enter a closed beta soon, which you can apply for at the game’s website. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage of the game.

Check out the newest from Warner Bros. on Turbine's upcoming MOBA.

Man, whatever in the world would Warner Bros. do in the gaming industry if it wasn’t for DC? Although they’ve got Mortal Kombat and Scribblenauts, and some other publishing partnerships, most notably with Traveller Tales, and CD Projekt RED for The Witcher series, on the whole, their entire roster of games seems to be based on their DC properties.

Not that it matters when the games are good, as the upcoming Infinite Crisis, the MOBA developed by Turbine, looks to be. Infinite Crisis is the newest entry in an increasingly crowded genre, but the hook is that it is based on DC properties, and so it features DC characters like Wonder Woman and Batman.

The newest video up there takes us behind the scenes on the upcoming game. Do you like what you see? Are you excited?

Infinite Crisis is due for release later this year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for further coverage.

Introducing Batman. You know, just in case you didn't know who he was already.

Infinite Crisis, the new Turbine developed MOBA game from Warner Bros., based on DC properties, is still in a closed beta, but that doesn’t mean they can’t try and drum up hype for the title. And how do you do that? By showing off the coolest character in your game, of course. So just in case you are unacquainted with Batman (who’s only, like, the coolest character ever), or need to be reacquainted with his coolness (because you’ve been tainted by the Marvel movies), feel free to watch the video clip above and revel in batman’s absolute awesomeness, even in a MOBA.

Personally, if I ever get around to playing this game, I know what hero I am playing as.

Turbine will launch Infinite Crisis as a free to play game modeled on League of Legends later this year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for further coverage of the title as its release date approaches.
