Two Tribes Games’ Toki Tori 2 is an interesting take on the genre. Honestly? It’s a simple, to-the-point platformer of puzzle mechanics and just finding a way through. The Wii U enables new and exciting ways to interact with the game via the Wii U gamepad, such as playing the game on the handheld alone and designing levels using the touchscreen.

It’s all very interesting (yes, we’ve said that twice now) but hopefully there will be other Wii U titles that do more than the usual with the gamepad and touchscreen.

Two Tribes Games has just released a trailer announcing Toki Tori 2, the sequel to the puzzle-platformer that put them on the map many years ago. The game will be heading to the Wii U and PC/Mac via Steam.

And when the developer means puzzle-platformer, they really mean it. You usually have to come up with ways to both avoid enemies and open new paths (at times a combination of both). The new 3D graphics are bright and colourful, with proper home to the original.

According to the trailer, Toki Tori 2 is “coming soon-ish”. We can dig that.
