It's a gorgeous platformer based on the hit TV show.

After a few years of no support for the system, Ubisoft have come out and announced one of their most interesting looking games exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS- it is called Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets, and it is based on the hit cartoon. The game is, moreover, based on the same UbiArt engine that got us the gorgeous and compelling Child of Light, Rayman Legends, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War, and it looks suitably pretty as a result. Just look at those screenshots, or at the trailer.

“Developed with the direct involvement of the show’s creator, Alex Hirsch, Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets tells an original story that sees the twins enlisted to find stolen gnome artifacts,” Ubisoft said. “It’s a task that’ll bring them into contact with a wide assortment of monsters, so the twins have been granted new abilities, which you can take advantage of by switching between them. Dipper beats down monsters at close range with the Gnome Battle Cuffs, for example, and can also find clues with his flashlight, while Mabel can reach high places with a grappling hook, and attacks from a distance with her Fleece of Bedazzlement-enhanced sweater sleeves. Packing in plenty of familiar characters and places to meet and explore, Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets is a treat for all fans of the show.”

Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets launches this Fall. This is one game I will keep an eye on. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more information and coverage.

Actually, they teased games. Plural.

Do you remember Child of Light? Released almost exactly a year ago, the game was a charming and gorgeous JRPG developed by Ubisoft’s internal teams using the UbiArt engine that powers Rayman games, and released on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Wii U.

iIt was a great game, and it ended up doing very well too. So a sequel at some point is naturally to be expected, especially given that this is Ubisoft, who are the kings of extending every single property that they have into a full fledged franchise. And now, it looks like any hopes you might have had for a new Child of Light project might be coming true- creative director Patrick Plourde has hinted at more projects set in the Child of light universe on Twitter.

‘Fans of Child of Light: There are very cool projects in process set in the Child of Light universe. More News soon. Stay tuned!’ he said.

At the very least, a direct sequel is not out of question at all.

Whatever it is, let’s hope it gets some major showtime at Ubisoft’s E3 presser this year.

Intriguing.

Do you know what Valiant Hearts is? it’s a gorgeous adventure game created by Ubisoft, set during the First World War, created using the stunning UbiArt engine, the same one that powered Rayman Legends and Child of Light. So far, we’ve seen a lot of the game, with a specific emphasis on how it looks (which is gorgeous as hell), and how it handles and tackles mature and thematically sophisticated ideas in its story during World War I (which admittedly is an underused setting in video games).

Today, for a change, Ubisoft shows us how the game will play. The newest developer diary for the title shows the gameplay for the game, and how it is intertwined with the story.

“It is not a war game,” says lead designer of the game Julien Chevallier. “It’s a game about war through which we experience the World War I time period.”

We might see more of Valiant Hearts at E3 next week, so stay tuned.

Ubisoft's beautiful game comes to Sony's handheld.

Child of Light, Ubisoft’s gorgeous JRPG built using the UbiArt engine that previously powered Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, released last month on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Steam; now, it will also be getting a release on Sony’s PlayStation Vita, Ubisoft has announced, on July 2nd.

On the same day, the Vita will also get a retail Complete Edition, that will feature the game, in addition to extra content, such as a bonus quest, a new character and a pack of collectibles.

Child of Light is a gorgeous throwback to the past, as it channels the golden age of Japanese role playing games on the SNES and creates a wonderfully compelling and charming modern role playing adventure. We at GamingBolt loved it, and it will probably be an even better fit for Sony’s handheld.

Child of Light is just the first in a line of innovative and imaginative small scale interesting side projects Ubisoft is creating using the UbiArt engine- coming up next is Valiant Hearts, a charming, striking World War I video game that uses the UbiArt powered visuals to great effect.

Ubisoft’s Valiant Hearts: The Great War, their innovative puzzle-adventure game that is set during the First World War, will be releasing on June 25 for Xbox 360 and Xbox One over Xbox Live, and PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 over the PSN Store, and for PC. You can check out a new trailer above.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War uses a striking visual style that is powered and brought about by the UbiArt engine, the same engine that brought us Rayman Legends and the excellent, excellent Child of Light, released just last month for PC and consoles. The game is being developed byUbisoft Montpellier, the same people who brought us excellent games such as Beyond Good and Evil, Rayman Origins, and Rayman Legends- so you know it will be great.

Valiant Hearts launches next month for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. No Wii U version has been announced (and honestly, considering how rapidly Ubisoft is pulling back its Wii U support, not very likely either).

An homage to the golden age of JRPGs made on the same breathtaking engine as Rayman.

Ubisoft’s Child of Light, the title that is supposed to be channeling equal parts of classic platformers and JRPGs, has been teased and leaked in some capacity for a few weeks now, but Ubisoft has finally gone ahead and taken the covers off the thing, showing us one of the most breathtakingly beautiful games we’ve laid eyes on. As it well should be, considering it is made on the beautiful UbiArt engine that powers Rayman Legends.

Led by the creative director of Ubisoft’s runaway hit Far Cry 3, and being developed by a small group of developers in Montreal, the game plays like a classic JRPG, tasking players to traverse a beautiful, lush, breathtaking world in a modern variation of the classic coming of age story.

“Ubisoft’s strengths include its diversity and the freedom it gives its creative teams,” said Patrick Plourde, Creative Director, Ubisoft. “We want Child of Light to be like a playable poem, a love letter to art and video games.”

It certainly looks like it is just that.

Gorgeous sidescrolling JRPG debuts in two weeks.

Ubisoft is working on Child of Light, a gorgeous 2D sidescroller that is made on the same engine as Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, and is inspired by classic JRPGs like Final Fantasy VI. The aim is to make it look like a ‘living painting.’

The game will allegedly be a 2D sidescroller, but it will have battles inspired by classic JRPGs. It is apparently being developed by the creative director for Far Cry 3.

The debut of this game is not for another two weeks, sadly, but we do have some concept art (above), along with a nice, short Vine video that you can check here.

No platforms have been announced for Child of Light yet naturally, though it is reasonable to expect Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions at the very least. Given that it is on the Rayman engine, which is optimized for Wii U, it might be coming to Nintendo’s struggling system too; a PlayStation Vita version might not be out of the question either.

Finally, if it comes to Wii U, there remains a possibility that it also hits Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

We’ll have details for you either way in a couple of weeks so stay tuned.
