THQ has confirmed it will bring the currently Wii-only uDraw peripheral and its games to Xbox 360 and PS3.

“I am pleased to announce that we plan to bring exclusively designed uDraw GameTablets to Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 platforms this holiday,” said THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell in its Q4 2011 financial announcement today.

No further details the PS3/360 versions of the tablet were announced, and the company only committed to a “holiday” 2011 release.

Interesting news, though the 360 and PS3 don’t exactly need anymore of a push into the casual sector.

THQ’s uDraw tablet for Wii gets a new title today in the form of yet another Spongebob Squarepants game.

Spongebob Squigglepants will supposedly deliver over 100 family friendly nano-games using the unique motion-sensing and drawing capabilities of the uDraw hardware. Translation: Another mini-game compilation.

And there I thought the Wii’s software library was picking up. It seems the devil won’t be ice-skating to work today.

THQ’s graphic tablet peripheral for the Wii, the uDraw, now has an official UK release date. The tablet will retail on the 4^th of March.

Games that will complement the launch of the uDraw are Pictionary, Dood’s Big Adventure and uDraw Studio (which comes bundled with the hardware.)

Retailers have already begun to list the product for sale at £50, but THQ have yet to confirm an RRP.

With the release of uDraw GameTablet, THQ has received a lot of welcome buck for bang. uDraw is, fortunately for THQ, a hit. A big hit. So much so that THQ has taken a three times jump with its release:

Michael Brown says: “Shares of THQ Inc. jumped on nearly three times their usual volume following indications of a strong launch for its uDraw sketching game and tablet product for Nintendo’s Wii gaming system.”

“THQ is up because their uDraw game is currently #7 on Amazon’s top 100 list, and it’s been moving steadily up since release on Tuesday,” said Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter told TheStreet in an emailed statement. “I think the market is reacting to a long-awaited hit, and their timing in front of holiday is really good.”

Pretty impressive. Let’s see if this can keep it up.

THQ have released a Wii accessory named uDraw, which can be used to draw (what else). With uDraw you can enjoy drawing based games on the Wii, and save their creations on SD cards, and print their paintings and show it to their friends and family. uDraw will most probably be priced at $69.99, which is its suggested retail price, and will come bundled with the game, uDraw Studio.

THQ is also releasing two new games that will support uDraw- Dood’s Big Adventure in which “gamers of all ages enjoy an exciting drawing-inspired side-scrolling adventure.” The other game is Pictionary, which, THQ says, comes to game consoles after two decades. Pictionary for uDraw has already been “hailed by Parenting, Family Circle and Good Housekeeping as one of the best Wii games for kids and families,” THQ claims.

Both these games will come at a price of $29.99.

uDraw is expected to launch in Europe next year, as are uDraw games.

THQ Chief Executive Officer Brian Farrell says, “We’re delighted to work closely with Nintendo on the uDraw GameTablet, which gives Wii owners a fantastic creative outlet this holiday season. uDraw makes a perfect, affordable holiday gift that encourages artistic expression alongside great gaming experiences that are fun for the whole family.”

Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, says, “The uDraw GameTablet is an amazing addition to the Wii and opens up its creative possibilities. THQ has shown enormous innovation with uDraw, which is not only a perfect holiday gift, but we think will become a ‘must-have’ for Wii owners for a very long time.”

THQ has also released some information on the uDraw GameTablet:

“The uDraw GameTablet incorporates a 4-by-6-inch drawing space and pressure-sensitive stylus designed to offer more subtle control and precision than available on the traditional Wii Remote™. The Wii Remote docks discretely within the uDraw GameTablet, allowing the device to draw power directly from the Wii Remote.  A convenient storage area hides the Wii Remote wrist strap and stylus when not in use.  The uDraw GameTablet also features tilt-and-roll movement options, allowing players to interact and control in-game characters by moving and directing them through game levels.  Additionally, SD-card support enables players to save and print their artwork and other uDraw creations.”
