Whether it’s the magic of next gen consoles or just the usual dominance of the franchise, EA Sports’ FIFA 14 topped the latest UKIE game charts (released by Gfk Chart-Track) for the sixth week in a row. Call of Duty: Ghosts, which enjoyed a brief run at the top, is currently at second place.

Other titles such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4 and Grand Theft Auto V have maintained their spots in the top 5. Rockstar’s open world action adventure saw a great year, becoming the top selling title for 2013 in the UK and its fifth best selling game of all time. With further content updates promised, it’s likely that GTA V won’t be leaving the charts any time soon.

The remainder of the list consists of Need For Speed: Rivals, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, Just Dance 2014 and Gran Turismo 6, which is pretty much similar to pre-New Year’s rankings. Let us know your thoughts on the recent UK sales figures in the comments.

Forza 5, Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome all make it to the top ten.

The Xbox One debuted across 13 territories worldwide this past Friday and has already been making its mark. FIFA 14, which debuted for current-gen consoles in September, managed to climb to the top spot again thanks to an Xbox One version launching on Friday and a bundle for the same according to the latest UKIE Game Charts courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track. This resulted in a 328 percent sales boost for the game.

In fact, almost all of the Xbox One’s key launch titles managed to enter into the top ten. Forza Motorsport 5 debuted at fifth place, with Dead Rising 3 in at seven and Ryse: Son of Rome at tenth place.

Of course, various third party titles managed to benefit with Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag still in the top five. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds managed to debut at number 9, which is fairly reasonable given the hype around the Xbox One’s launch.

Rockstar's blockbuster on its way to becoming the biggest UK game of all time.

After breaking seven Guinness World Records and garnering $1 billion in revenue within just three days, Grand Theft Auto 5 has managed to sell more than 3 million units in the UK since launching in the past month according to MCV magazine. It is now after FIFA 13’s record, having passed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s sales. The game surpassed the original Black Ops to become the fastest selling game in the UK, and is on track to become the biggest selling UK game of all time.

Despite debuting at number 1 on the UKIE Game Charts on its debut, which covers games across all formats in the UK, Grand Theft Auto 5 played second fiddle to EA Sports’ FIFA 14 for a short while before reclaiming the top spot in this recent week.

Will it really become the biggest selling UK game, especially with Call of Duty: Ghosts releasing next month and Activision promising that it will go after the GTA 5’s record? We’ll find out in the coming months.
