Take a look at twenty of the biggest upcoming open world games.

Open world settings have become something of a trend for video games in this current generation of gaming. Video games are as frequently open world now as they used to be first person shooters a decade ago, or platformers in the era of Mario and Sonic. We’re not complaining, though. We love open world games, and in the past few years, we’ve been lucky enough to play landmark titles that have pushed the boundaries of the genre in ways we could only dream of before. Skyrim, The Witcher 3, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain- there are just too many to name.

And thankfully enough, there’s a lot more to come in the near future. 2017 has been an excellent year for open world games, with titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and the aforementioned Breath of the Wild having met universal critical acclaim, and it looks like 2018 will be just the same. Here, in this feature, we’re going to take a look at the twenty one open world games, due to release in 2018 or beyond, that we’re looking forward to the most.

So without further ado, let’s begin.

MONSTER HUNTER WORLD

Monster Hunter World looks like a major departure from formula for the series, and while it definitely looks like now might be the perfect time for newcomers to jump in, it still looks like this is very much going to be a proper Monster Hunter experience. The series makes its debut on the PS4 and the Xbox One, with its first non-handheld release in a long time, and the boundaries that fact has opened up makes this upcoming Capcom release a mouth-watering prospect.
