Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 recently snagged the “Best Shooter” award at this year’s Video Game Awards, outspending the likes of Battlefield 3 and Gears of War 3.

Daniel Matros, Battlefield 3′s global community manager congratulated Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer and Activision on winning the award, saying that the devs had “made one hell of a game.” However, he did go on to say that for him, Battlefield 3 is “still number one.”

Gears of War 3 and the two of them were all outclassed by Portal 2 in the Best Multiplayer category- it snagged the award in a surprising turn of events. I cannot say I disagree. The co-op was quite awesome.

The awards aren’t the only success Modern Warfare 3 is getting. It has managed to gross $1 billion worldwide with just 16 days on the market.

Check out the trailer for Diablo 3 which was shown at VGA 2011. As you all know Diablo trailers are amazing with top notch voice acting and CG by Blizzard. We do not have the release date for this game yet, but it seems like it will release in 2012.

Check out this new trailer for Mass Effect 3, which was shown at VGA 2011. Shepard mounts an attack against seemingly insurmountable odds in this trailer derived from gameplay footage for the Spike Video Game Awards 2011!

The game comes out in March next year for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

EA and Spike have announced that new trailers of Mass Effect 3 and Hitman Absolution (respectively) will be premiered during the Video Game Awards tomorrow. The Hitman trailer will air as part of the pre-show.

BioWare will also be announcing an all new franchise tomorrow night, so it’s going to be a big night for them by the looks of it. It was at the VGAs last year that BioWare announced Mass Effect 3 with a spectacular debut trailer.

“Some very will” be “coming together” for PS Vita launch title Sound Shapes too, Goeff Keighly has announced. Maybe a demo? Maybe a gameplay video? We’ll see tomorrow.

Mass Effect 3 got a trailer earlier today, and so did Hitman Absolution. They both looked pretty good.

Cliff Bleszinski has appeared in a teaser video, asking all fans to watch/attend the Spike VGA 2011, because he will be announcing Epic Games’ next project.

“I’ll be there with a big announcement,” Bleszinski, studio design director, confirms. “2011 marks the 20th anniversary for Epic as a studio. And while we’ve been busy supporting Gears of War and Infinity Blade, we have something new in store for you.”

It’s gonna be an all new franchise, by the looks of it, and it’s being developed by Epic’s North Carolina studio. “It’s an entirely fresh and new experience being crafted from our North Carolina studio that you’re not going to want to miss.”

So, the VGAs just hot a lot more exciting. We already know there’s going to be a new BioWare franchise announced at the ceremony, and an all new Sony exclusive. This has added a lot more heat.

Remember that ‘PS3 exclusive you won’t believe’ that Geoff Keighly was hyping? The game that was supposed to get a full reveal at the VGAs on December 10? Well, it’s got a teaser video now, and… it doesn’t tell us much. It tells us that it’s probably a post-apocalyptic game, and putting the snippets in the video above and some other info together, we’re guessing it’s about brain eating fungus or something, something which a lot of other people have been guessing.

You can also visit the official site of the game. It has another video of an ant that seems to have fungus grown all over it, strengthening the theory above. Oh, it’s also licking it’s butt.

Spike recently announced that they will be holding the annual Video Game Awards in December, and along with several other major titles, an all new BioWare franchise developed by a new studio will also be revealed. Game Informer has now gone ahead and given us the first look of the game- the image above.

As CVG has pointed out, it definitely does look a lot like Uncharted. It seems to be showing off an over the top crash and a dramatic set piece moment, two hallmarks of the Nathan Drake franchise. It’s also set in a desert-like environment, just like the recently released Uncharted 3 mainly was.

Well, we don’t have to speculate much longer now, since this franchise will be revealed very soon anyway. The Spike Video Game Awards will be held on December 10, and all our questions will be answered.

The Video Game Awards will be held in December, but we all know they’re not just about big announcements, but primarily about… well, awarding good video games with… awards. And Spike has announced the Game of the Year 2011 and Most Anticipated Game awards nominations.

Via his Twitter feed, Spike’s Geoff Keighley announced the nominees.

For those who you who’re wondering how Skyrim and Skyward Sword were nominated for the GOTY award, Keighley also told everyone that the VGA panel had already played the two on pre-release copies and made the decision based on those playthroughs. “The board gets these games before the public to play,” he said. “Games are usually finished at least a month before release.”

“The press advisory board has final copies of both games. The oars picks nominees and winners.”

Spike, hosts of the annual Video Game Awards, announced recently in a press release that an all new BioWare game from a new franchise and Alan Wake 2 will be among the several reveals made at the awards ceremony when it takes place on on December 10.

The new BioWare game is being developed by a brand new BioWare studio.

And after months of rumours and speculations and a confirmations by the developers of its existence sometime ago, Alan Wake 2 will be officially announced at the Video Game Awards as well.

Teases for the new BioWare IP and Alan Wake 2 will be in the next issue of Game Informer.

A Metal Gear Solid: Rising re-reveal has also been confirmed, true to Kojima’s words, who said that there is something big in store for the game this winter. “The truth about Metal Gear Solid: Rising will finally be revealed at 2011 VGAs,” tweets Geoff Keighly.
