Some pictures have been released that clearly show a 3D Video Output button in the XMB following the latest firmware update.

We can clearly see from this image the menu and the famous 3D Video Output option.

Due to the huge amount of recent press dedicated to 3D gaming, in particular Nvidia’s recent 3D Vision, it is very plausible that 3D gaming could soon be coming to the PS3.

Speaking at CES in January, SCEA’s John Koller said, “It’s gonna take just a simple firmware update which most people do regularly anyway, and that’s all it’s gonna take to accolade the PS3 to 3D gaming. You will, however, have to have a 3D TV and the glasses to get the full experience and Blu-ray movies in 3D will require a separate firmware update, which will be required by the end of the year.”

Grand Turismo 5 has already been shown running in 3D.

No further details have been given yet.

Microsoft had the following to say on the matter: “3D is great in the theater, but for the living room? I think we’re a long way away from that.”

Stay tuned to GB for more info.
