Wargame: European Escalation Gets 4th Free DLC with “Fatal Error”

War never changes for Eugen Systems, but it does get more fun. They’ve just announced another free DLC pack for Wargame: European Escalation, the fourth thus far, titled “Fatal Error”. And unlike previous DLCs, this one will have more of a single player focus with new content.

There’s now a new fifth operation to the existing four. This new campaign is called – surprise, surprise – Fatal Error and last for 5 missions in a story separate from the main game.

The story is, “based on an original alternate history” and set “in 1979, a time when hopes for a peaceful settlement of the East/West tensions seemed close, until the Euromissiles crisis and the discovery of a Soviet combat brigade being deployed in Cuba. Within the depths of Mount Cheyenne, home to North America’s most vital command center, a tragic mistake made by a mere maintenance technician will set the world on fire once again.” Sounds groovy.

Fatal Error will also feature support of touch-based gameplay for those with touch¹ displays. It is currently avaialable on Steam for PC owners.

Wargame European Escalation Receives New “Commander” DLC, Discount on Steam

Despite Wargame AirLand Battle, the sequel to Eugen Systems’ strategy game Wargame European Escalation, getting it’s fair share of attention, the developer hasn’t forgotten about it’s loyal followers. They’ve just revealed a 3rd free DLC, titled “Commander” which gives gamers a new game mode Economy. This new mode is available for both single and multiplayer play.

Essentially, the mode has you deciding whether to steamroll enemies and save on those command points, or spend them to cut your losses and stay on the defensive. But in addition to Economy mode, there will be two new maps available for each of the three modes. The map ‘Storm Eye’ is also now playable in Alamo mode, while the maps Fulda Gap and River of Blood are available for Conquest mode.

Plus Wargame European Escalation is 66% off on Steam till September 27th. So if you haven’t had the chance to get down and dirty with war, now’s as good a time as ever.

Check out the awesome new RTS for the PC, which resembles World in Conflict a lot. It’s made by the same people who made R.U.S.E: Act of War – Eugen Systems.

Fully created using in-game footage, this all new video presents NATO forces and a few of the 361 units of the game, in breathtaking action. The ambush set up by the Warsaw Pact quickly escalates into a full-blown, spectacular battle, as NATO units call in for reinforcements to strike back the aggressor.

It’s being made using their powerful engine, Iriszoom.

Maps are as big as 150 square kilometers (60 mi²), displaying over 100 million scenery objects, as hundreds of units — tanks, infantry squads, helicopters, etc — are fiercely fighting over the battlefield.
