The Space Marines and Orks certainly know how to light up a map in their own ways, even if the latter slightly pulls ahead.

We’ve just got a new Battlefield Report from the makers of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, and it’s the game’s multiplayer showcased this time around.

The game’s Creative Director Jan Theysen and Senior Game Designer Elliott Verbiest put the Blood Ravens chapter of the Space Marines through their paces against the Orks in this one, and we can tell you that things get intense. Fighting and sustaining control over key Energy Zones is the main goal for both factions, but how they do that is so vastly different that they change their respective approaches to combat. That’s clearly welcome in a title like this one, and the Space Marines were our personal picks, with their technological prowess giving them a lot of firepower in exchange for high energy costs and smaller unit sizes.

The Orks, however, rely on swarming enemy units, using their numerical superiority with devious precision in the right hands. They’re more than a match for the Blood Ravens, even with some upgraded enemy units threatening to obliterate them. It’s quite an exciting look at the shenanigans you can get up to on the battlefield, almost as exciting as that story update we got a while ago.

This one isn’t too far away, and you can be sure we’ll be battling it out alongside you when it launches on September 17th.

Two new story expansions, the return of Crusade Mode for free this Fall alongside multiple Map Packs, and even more coming in Year One.

Deep Silver’s Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 launches on September 17th for PC, as announced at the Warhammer Skulls 2026 showcase. Of course, that’s really only the beginning, as a new trailer promises a continuing war. Check it out below.

First up is the return of Crusade Mode, launching this Fall for free alongside a Map Pack. Billed as a “living campaign of conquest,” it offers multiple locations, occupied by different factions to attack (with each victory and loss promising ramifications on the overall war effort). Following this is Lord Ahmnok in Last Stand and another Map Pack, followed by a Mission Editor and yet another pack of maps in the Winter.

Around the same time, developer KING Art will release the first of two paid expansion packs – Blood Ravens, a story prologue where “ancient relics ignite deadly new conflicts.” Before Spring 2027, you can look forward to another Map Pack and the addition of Cuzutta in Last Stand. Around the same period comes AFTERMATH, which expands on the campaign and adds a brand new faction.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 will retail for $60 at launch, but those who pick up the Commander Edition can play three days early and access both paid expansions when available. That’s in addition to receiving a free digital soundtrack for the game.
