Ahead of Warhammer Vermintide’s release in 2018, Wccftech reached out to the developers to find out what improvements will be made for the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro versions of the first game, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide.

The developers stated that the Xbox One X version will run at native 4K while the PS4 Pro version will run at 1440p. Other than the improved resolution, the Xbox One X version will also feature ” improved aliasing and shadow casting, more detailed textures and a sharper image for an improved visual look.” The Xbox One X patch for the game is already available.

The update for the PS4 Pro version is yet to roll out but it will soon according to the developer. They stated, “It is still pending but it is in our pipe for a not too distant release. Details are still being finalized, but our target resolution on PlayStation 4 Pro is native 1440P.”

It remains to be seen how the sequel will turn out and hopefully, more information will be made available in the coming days.

To wind down the year, Microsoft has some free games to offer Xbox Live Gold subscribers in December 2017 as part of its free Games With Gold promotion. The four games in question include Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide and Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition, both for the Xbox One.

Xbox 360 players – or those taking advantage of backwards compatibility on the Xbox One – can play Child of Eden (from the creator of cult classic Rez) and Marlow Briggs and The Mask of Death, a hack and slash title. If you download any of these games, they’ll be a part of your library forever.

Each game has a different availability window though. Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is available from December 1st to 31st but Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition will be available December 16th to January 15th 2018. Meanwhile, Child of Eden will be available from December 1st to 15th but Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death will be available from December 16th to 31st.

Fatrshark’s Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide has achieved a rather significant milestone in its lifetime. The developer has announced that the co-op hack and slash title has sold over 1 million copies since launching in October 2015.

CEO of Fatshark Martin Wahlund stated that, “We are ecstatic to have reached the one million milestone, and are very humbled that so many have invested their time and money in our game.”

To celebrate, PC players will gain access to the Lorebook DLC for free though it’ll take some doing to finally unlock it. “The pages have been ripped out of the book and scattered around Ubersreik. As you collect them, you will unlock the stories behind various locations, enemies, and the heroes, as well as information about the Warhammer Fantasy world,” as per the developer.

Fatshark’s Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is known best for its four-player co-op loot-grinding and dungeon crawling but is finally receiving its first campaign DLC “Karak Azgaraz“.

The DLC sees your party traveling to a fortress to fight the Skaven. Eventually, you’ll have to search for The Cursed Rune and light a beacon to trigger the Chain of Fire. Three maps will be ready for hacking and slashing through along with new weapons – including two new rare weapons in the Dwarf Ranger’s Warpick and the Witch Hunter’s Falchion. Three new achievements will also be on hand to earn.

The DLC will cost £5.99/$8.99 when it releases and while a date hasn’t been confirmed, you can check out the patch notes for the same here. An open beta was recently hosted to help players try out the new content.

Fatshark’s Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is almost out on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 – it launches next week, on October 4 – and to commemorate the occasion, developers and publishers Fatshark have released a brand new launch trailer for the console version of the game.

The trailer lets you see how the gridmark first person shooter set in the Warhammer universe, which also features melee combat, and co-op play, will work and look on consoles. The console versions of the game are set to also launch with all the DLC that has been released for the PC version of the game so far included in the base package- and the best part is, all of this content will only be $40. As gaming deals go, this one isn’t half bad at all.

The action game based in the Warhammer universe, Warhammer: End Times: Vermintide, will be launching on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 this October, developer Fatshark and publisher Nordic Games have announced. The digital versions of the game will be self published by Fatshark. Nordic Games, meanwhile, will handle the physical, retail launch and distribution of the game worldwide.

“More than half a million PC gamers have already taken Vermintide to their heart, and this Fall it’s time for console players to do the same. The consoles will get an extended version that includes all DLCs released for the PC version to date,” says Martin Wahlund, CEO at Fatshark.

Fatshark’s break-out co-op title Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is doing pretty well for itself and it’s received some free DLC in the past month to keep players interested. The developer is looking into further expanding on the game’s feature set though – CEO Martin Wahlund told WCCFTech that the team is currently looking into mods.

Granted there are no plans just yet but Wahlund stated that, “We have discussed it a lot and it is something we will look into at least. We are really big fans of the modding community so I would expect us to do something. However, there is no timeline yet.”

DirectX 12 support has been confirmed though again, there’s no timeline for the same. “Yes DX12 support will probably come at some point even for Vermintide but for sure for our next game, whatever that might be.”

Finally, in preparation for the game’s console release, Wahlund said that the team was “still doing a lot of testing and optimizations, so I don’t dare to target any specs yet. I think PC ‘High’ would be a good guess with some tweaks though.”

Fatshark’s Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, the co-op first person multiplayer slasher set in the Warhammer universe, will be receiving its first major DLC today.

Sigmar’s Blessing is the name of the update and it offers new weapon traits, 40 new Veteran tier weapons, five hero trinkets and the Shrine of Solace. The Shrine of Solace invites you to use one of the hero trinkets on the specific character and offering Tokens in exchange for something new. What could it be? That’s left for you to find out.

The DLC isn’t the only thing new with the update – Fatshark also introduces changes to the Forge, allowing you to salvage Exotic weapons, hats and trinkets. You can also use Tokens to infuse items rather than another item. Check out the full change-log here.

Fatshark’s Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide has been a rather strong success for the company since its launch. In fact, it’s sold 300,000 units and it’s set to receive its first free DLC on December 3rd with Sigmar’s Blessing.

Sigmar’s Blessing will allow you to control what loot is dropped in the game and there’s also a new altar at the Inn which lets you dispose whatever loot you have to improve your weapons. There will also be new traits added to loot tables, new weapon drops for the “red” loot class and new set trait combinations for each red weapons.

There will be other new features like a private mode for solo players, Realism mode, crosshairs, removing the HUD and much more. A Survival mode will also be added in the future which lets you fight waves of enemies. Sigmar’s Blessing will be free but there will be paid DLC as well in the future.

Vermintide is set in the End Times of the Warhammer universe and you’ll be fighting with the rebels to bring order to the world. As a first person action game (think more Left 4 Dead than Dark Messiah of Might and Magic), you’ll have access to a variety of weapons like old-fashioned guns and bow ‘n’ arrows to magic. There’s a lot of emphasis on positioning and parrying in combat so don’t expect a mindless hack and slash fest. It’s possible to make different decisions to increase the difficulty of some missions, leading to better loot based on your performance.
