Last week PEGI, a European Video Game ratings board, confirmed that Ubisoft’s party game, We Dare, would be receiving a 12+ rating, causing a reasonable amount of controversy. PEGI defended the decision citing that actual in-game content is fairly tame, despite what the title’s ad campaign implies (see above):

“PEGI does not take into account the context of a game when rating it, we only look at the contents of the game. [We Dare] has been rated as a PEGI 12 because it contains mild swearing, minor assault on a human-like character and words/activities that amount to obvious sexual innuendo, explicit sexual descriptions or images and sexual posturing.”

Ubisoft have decided not to release the game in the UK following public outcry as well concerns from senior UK politicians, though much of these concerns were apparently based on the game’s advertising. The game is still slated for release in other European territories.

Thanks to The Telegraph for the info. The quote from PEGI was taken from Cubed3.
