These covers are not the cream of the crop.

There is a saying: “don’t judge a book by its cover.” But here in the gaming industry, game covers do matter to a certain extent. To the average, uninformed customer, just scrolling through the games in a store? These game box covers are all that they have to make a decision on whether or not they should buy a game.

Of course, a bad cover does not mean a bad game (for example, the cover for the original Mega Man on the NES is legendary for being awful, but the game was still pretty ace), but first impressions do matter a bit, and for many, a game’s cover is the first and last impression. So, in this feature, we look at some of the worst cover arts of all time.

Note: List is in random order

Wildlife Park 2

Take a look at the picture above and tell me whether or not the Dolphin scares the ever living shit out of you. Dolphins are supposed to be cute and loving animals. But this guy right here, he looks like he would like nothing better than to drown you and eat you and spit you out. Just looking at this cover box art gives me the shivers. If the idea was to scare your customer away, I mean, they did a good job.
