Microsoft has stated that the new Xbox 360 controller will be available exclusively only through GameStop and Microsoft Stores in the USA starting this August with a price-point of $54.99.

It’s kind of interesting to see Microsoft release new hardware perheprials just a couple of months before Xbox One’s launch in November.

In an interesting turn of events, Blizzard has said that they shouldn’t be called PC developers because that’s wrong. They are just a studio that develop games irrespective of the platform. They also said that controller will be more beneficial for Diablo 3.

Diablo 3’s game director certainly believes it makes a difference, and he mentioned why he thinks that way.

“We don’t see ourselves as a PC developer – we see ourselves as a game developer. It’s just that the games that we wanted to make suit the PC platform. We don’t believe you can make a Starcraft style RTS and make it Blizzard great on a console. We do believe you could make an RTS that would be on a console, but we would have (to have) that idea, and that spark and that passion to make it,” said Jay Wilson, game director Blizzard to PC Gamer.

“One of the reasons why we’re exploring the idea of a console version of Diablo 3 because we feel that the controls and the style of the game lend itself to a console. With some of our early experiments in putting a direct control scheme into the game via a 360-like analogue controller, I’ve been ‘Oh this feels even better, with direct control,” he added.

PDP’s Website is selling this Secret TRON Controller exclusively and is telling us that only 250 of these bad boys were made.  They look pretty damn sick, I must say.  The controller features “precision parts, vibration motors, performance enhancing contours and design, rubber-grips with a soft-touch finish, perforated details and orange light-up accents, all presented in a visual design that perfectly echoes the look and feel of the world of TRON.”  The controller is also an officially licensed Microsoft controller that is wired for a price of $49.99.  This thing looks bad ass and with only 250 being made you better get to it if you want one.  You can purchase exclusivley from the PDP website here.

Anyway, Joystiq has revealed via ‘trusted sources’  that Microsoft is developing an all new controller for the Xbox 360, in which the D-Pad, once rotated 90 degrees, will raise up about a quarter of an inch. This new nifty feature is targetted especially at Fighter fans.

Nothing else is known as of now. Not even if this is official or not.
