A mixture of various games come for the November month from super heroes to old school revivals.

The spooky month of October is almost behind us already as time marches on. One good thing about that is always that our various game subscription services (of which there is so many nowadays, it seems) has a refresh for a group of new games for us to enjoy. Microsoft has announced the line up for Games with Gold in November, and it’s a nice mix of various titles.

First up, for the entire month will be Moving Out, an indie title all about your small business doing what it can to help a town in their various mover needs. From November 16th into December will be Kingdom Two Crowns, where you a play a monarch trying to protect their kingdom from invaders and other peril. On the 360 side, there is also Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes, the sequel to the hit Lego-themed game that brought in other DC characters into Gotham, which will be available November 16th to the 30th, and then Rocket Knight, a revival of a Sega Genesis IP, that will be there from the 1st to the 15th.

The games will begin being available starting November 1st and will be available to redeem on all Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles, with Lego Batman 2 and Rocket Knight also being available on the 360.

Rock of Ages 3: Make and Break, Conker: Live & Reloaded, and Midway Arcade Origins Round out the lineup for the month of July.

Somehow, June has mostly come and gone, which means July, and its Games With Gold, have been revealed by the folks at Xbox. It’s shaking up to be a solid month, with four games spread across July. Two of the games will be Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S titles, while another two will run via backwards compatibility. The Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S titles are Planet Alpha and Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break, while the backwards compatibility titles are Conker: Live and Reloaded and Midway Arcade Origins.

In Planet Alpha, players are marooned on a strange planet and will have to venture through beautiful and dangerous environments to unlock the planet’s secrets, escape relentless enemies, and harness the power of both night and day to survive. Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break combines a sprawling story with wild takes on legendary characters from history and fiction. Players can also design, build, and share custom levels with friends in what is both a ridiculous tower defense and arcade games.

Conker: Live and Reloaded is a remake of N64 classic Conker’s Bad Fur Day in which players guide the foul-mouthed squirrel through a “raunchy world full of twisted characters, innuendos, and outrageous movie parodies.” Midway Arcade Origins, meanwhile, collects more than 30 arcade games including Defender, Gauntlet, Rampart, and more, without requiring any quarters.

The games combine for an MSRP of $79.96 and 3000 gamerscore. Planet Alpha will be available from July 1st to 31st. Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break will be available from July 16th to August 15th. Conker: Live and Reloaded can be claimed from July 1st to 15th, and Injustice can be picked up from July 16th to 31st.

You can watch a trailer for this month’s Games with Gold below:

Not a good selection this month.

Microsoft has announced the games for Xbox Live Games With Gold for the month of July, and… after a few great months, this month’s offerings are definitely disappointing. On the Xbox One, Runbow, as well as Ubisoft’s follow up to Grow Home, Grow Up, this month.

Xbox 360 users will get LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, one of the most forgettable LEGO games to date, and Kane and Lynch 2, a maligned sequel to an even more maligned game; both of these games will of course also be playable on the Xbox One, but again, that’s not going to really make the selection that much better.

After some consistently great months, I suppose a slump was to be expected. Still, this gives Sony an easy in to have the better lineup for this month- they had an excellent selection last month, headlined by Life is Strange on the PS4- hopefully they don’t drop the ball this month, either.

What a damn amazing month.

April will probably be the very best month that Microsoft’s Games With Gold service has had yet- the games for this month will include four rather good titles, across Xbox 360 and Xbox One both- which means that subscribers will be getting some real bang for their buck here.

Over on the Xbox One, the two headlining titles include Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season 2, and Crytek’s Ryse: Son of Rome. While the latter particularly was panned upon release, it is the kind of game that most people would be all to happy to give a shot themselves if they didn’t have to actually pay for it- which makes it a perfect fit here.

On the Xbox 360 end (with these games, of course, being playable on Xbox One, too), you’ll have Assassin’s Creed Revelations (one of the weaker games in the series, but still not a bad title at all), and Darksiders (an excellent Zelda like game, that I do think is the best of the titles on offer this month).

How many of these games are you interested in? Let us know in the comments section below.

Some excellent games on offer this month.

Not that long ago, Microsoft’s Games with gold service for Xbox Live was considered to be a bit of a joke, with the games Microsoft offering frequently being bottom of the barrel- something that made them look even poorer compared to the then excellent offerings that Sony used to make on PS+.

However, over the last few months, the tables have now changed, with Microsoft putting in the effort to make Games With Gold more attractive to subscribers, while PS+ has gotten steadily less appealing over time. And this month’s Games with Gold offering is another strong showing from Microsoft, making another compelling case for Xbox owners to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold.

On offer this month for the Xbox One are Ubisoft’s The Crew, their open world racing MMO; also available will be Goat Simulator. In addition, Xbox 360 players get XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Super Meat Boy, both of which will also be available to Xbox one players thanks to the console’s backwards compatibility.

It’s a very strong month- and I am having a very hard time seeing Sony top this with PS+.

After last month's excellent offering, May's Games With Gold catalog disappoints.

Last month’s Games With Gold was excellent, featuring probably the best showing yet for Microsoft’s service, when the company gave away Sunset Overdrive, which remains to this day one of the best games on the Xbox One, and arguably still its best exclusive, for free.

This month’s offerings, by contrast, are a decided step down. In May, it seems like Microsoft will be offering some rather poor titles to subscribers- the Xbox One offerings are headlined by Defense Grid 2 and Costume Quest 2, while the Xbox 360 fares a bit better with Grid 2 and Peggle.

As always, Xbox One players at least get to play the Xbox 360 games as well, but seriously- after last month’s great showing, this will probably cause a lot of people to be very, very pissed.

Sony, the ball is now in your court- it should not be too difficult to outdo Microsoft’s showing this month with whatever PS+ has planned. Then again, Sony have made it a habit to disappoint people beyond what was previously thought possible, so who knows, really.

Xbox Live’s Games with Gold program received what might actually be its best month ever– this month, subscribers of Xbox Live get some extremely great games, including what is possibly still the best exclusive on the platform so far.

Subscribers of Xbox Live Gold will be getting Insomniac’s excellent third person action/platformer hybrid Sunset Overdrive, as well as the full first season of Telltale’s remarkable The Wolf Among Us on the Xbox One. Sunset Overdrive launched in late 2014, and it remains, to this day, one of the best exclusives on the system.

Xbox 360 owners are pretty well served too, getting a copy of Saints Row: The Third, as well as Dead Space– both of these games will also be playable, and available, on Xbox One, making this, on the whole, one of the best months of free games ever, between Xbox Live and PS+.

Sony will have to work really hard to actually outdo Microsoft this month- which seems unlikely, given their track record with really terrible crappy offerings of late.

Instead of two great games, you get four terrible ones!

For the last few months, Xbox Live’s Games With Gold initiative has really stepped up its offerings- Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Valiant Hearts, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, The Walking Dead, and Metro are just some excellent games that have been put up on the service for Xbox One owners.

Which makes this month’s offering so much worse by comparison.

First, the silver lining- with the official release of the Backwards Compatibility initiative for the Xbox One starting this month, Xbox Live Gold members will get four games every month- the two Xbox One games that they usually get, plus two more games, since all Games with Gold Xbox 360 games will be backwards compatible on the Xbox One.

Now for the actual lineup of games this month. It’s pretty bad, so brace yourself:

Pneuma: Breath of Life (Xbox One)

Knight Squad (Xbox One)

DiRT 3 (Xbox 360)

Dungeon Siege III (Xbox 360)

I guess we had to have an off month eventually. Hopefully PS+’s Instant Game Collection does not disappoint this month.
