Shovelry is indeed not dead.

The developers of Shovel Knight had been teasing a big announcement for a week or so, now, and man, did they come through- today, it was announced by leading UK retailer GAME that Shovel Knight would be getting his very own Amiibo. The Amiibo marks the first third party character to get its own entry in Nintendo’s line of NFC powered toys, outside of those who were present in the roster of Super Smash Bros.

The Shovel Knight Amiibo will be compatible with Shovel Knight, and presumably unlock extra content in the game; it is also said to be compatible with all future Yatch Club games, which at the very least ensures that future Yatch Club games will continue to get Nintendo versions.

The Shovel Knight Amiibo will be available in stores on November 27, although you can pre-order it in stores tomorrow. Considering just how much the craze for Amiibos seems to be, it’s probably for the best for you to reserve a couple for yourself before they are all gone.

Plus, game sales reach 700,000 units worldwide.

Arguably the greatest indie game ever made – and one of the best platformers of all time, regardless of their origin – Shovel Knight, will now have the chance to be exposed to an even broader audience, as it will be getting a retail release this October on 3DS, Wii U, PS4, Xbox One and PC, with the PC retail release being Europe only.

The retail version of shovel Knight will include the game, upcoming Plague of Shadows expansion, and a Challenge mode with more than 50 gauntlets for players to overcome. It will also include a full instruction manual, something that developer Yatch Club Games seems to be ridiculously proud of (as they should be!)

“No 2-page inserts here,” they boasted on their blog. “You deserve a full manual, to hold in your hot little shaking hands and pore over as you wait to get home!”

Yatch Club also confirmed that the Plague of Shadows expansion will be launching before the retail game launches, meaning we can expect it by the beginning of Fall at the latest. “This free update will definitely hit digital platforms before the boxed version. We’re in the home stretch and are polishing every detail, pixel, and potion right now.”

Yatch Club will be publishing the game for themselves at retail, something they can accomplish because of how successful the digital release was- a staggering 700,00 copies have been downloaded worldwide across all the platforms the game is on, which is amazing for any indie game that is not Minecraft.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information on Shovel Knight.

Shovel Knight is now out on every major platform on the market.

The acclaimed and highly successful indie retro platformer, Shovel Knight, will be launching on Xbox One tomorrow, Yatch Club Games confirmed. The game launched for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita easrlier this month, and before then, had been exclusive to Nintendo devices and PC since its launch about a year ago.

The Xbox One version of the game brings the same tight, well crafted, and nostalgic platforming action that made Shovel Knight such a rage when it originally debuted for Wii U, 3DS, and PC; Xbox One owners will get exclusive Battletoads content in their version of the game (similar to how PlayStation owners got Kratos).

The game will also be launching worldwide- no country or territory, it seems, will be left out (the original launch of Shovel Knight saw a very delayed launch in Europe, at least on Nintendo devices).

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information on the game.
