Cannon-Fodder

These are the most basic of enemies that you are bound to come across in any zombie game. They have a very minimal set of attacks, all dealing a limited amount of damage and posing no real threat to your existence. These cannon-fodder enemies can be used to grind for resources in games that are built around survival, but other than that – these enemies are usually meant to ease players into the basic workings of a zombie game. Of course, every zombie game will have slight bits of alteration here and there.

If you enjoy the Zombies mode in Call of Duty but don’t want to buy an entire DLC pack with multiplayer maps, then Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 at least addresses that. Activision has announced that the Zombies DLC maps for the first person shooter can now be purchased individually. They retail for $8 apiece with four in total.

Each map purchase will net you 5 vials of Liquid Divinium. The standalone purchase option is currently live for Xbox One and PS4 with PC players soon to receive it as well. It should be interesting to see whether the maps from Zombies Chronicles, the fifth DLC pack that includes remastered versions of previous Call of Duty Zombies maps, are also standalone purchases. Right now, that’s not the case.

Treyarch is currently working on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the next entry in the saga that’s due to release on October 12th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. A full reveal is due in May so stay tuned for more details.

THE LAST OF US

The Last of Us was a game that was relentlessly thrilling from start to finish, no matter what situation the players found themselves in. Even when you were fighting against decidedly weaker foes in human, non-zombie enemies, the game could have you on the edge of your seat. But it was at its best when it put you right in the middle of dire, zombie-fuelled situations and made you find a way out. One particular section in the game when you’ve with characters Henry and Sam and fighting through the sewers and find yourselves having to make your way around a large number of the infected is particularly memorable.

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will feature a full campaign mode with new features but it will also include a second campaign with Shadows of Evil, the story of Zombies mode. The theme involves four sinful characters in the 1940s being transported to a demonic realm to seek redemption but the cast this time around is packed, featuring the voice and likeness of famous actors like Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, and Ron Perlman. The impetus of Zombies in Black Ops 3 is quite simple – you take control of a character with their own characteristics and try to survive wave after wave of the undead while following the orders of the Shadow Man. Not everything as is it seems though and if the Mob of the Dead DLC for Black Ops 2 was any indication, there may be no going back for this motley crew.

Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software helped bring Zombies in Exo suits to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare but the originator of the game type – Treyarch – has been versed in it since the days of Call of Duty: World at War.

Even though we’re still a ways off from knowing anything about the next Call of Duty, rumoured to be in development by Treyarch, the studio is already teasing something related to Zombies for the D.I.C.E. Summit on February 4th.

Usually Call of Duty-related announcements and reveals arrive prior to E3 with full-blown gameplay videos at the conference itself. What could Treyarch be teasing here and why is the focus specifically on Zombies? We’ll find out on February 4th and speculate our heads off in the meantime.

Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is now available across all platforms worldwide (for those who didn’t already pick up the Day Zero Edition). While the main story of the week has been zombies, especially since they make an appearance in a bonus round within the game’s Exo Survival co-op mode, things have been confusing to say the least.

It was eventually revealed by GameStop that there would be a dedicated Zombies mode coming to the game and would be made available to those who purchased the Season Pass. However, this wasn’t meant to imply that buying the Season Pass was the only way to get the mode.

Activision spokesperson Kyle Walker spoke to Tech News World and said this was simply a miscommunication on the part of GameStop. “Players will be able to access the zombies content via DLC, same as in prior years.

“The Season Pass is just another offer to get all DLC at a discounted rate. Season Pass is not the only way to get Zombies.”

More information is still pending on the same so stay tuned.

Various leaks last week revealed that Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare would be receiving a Zombies mode, which would be much like Exo Survival but with the undead in their own suits. This was evidenced by gameplay footage and a cut-scene demonstrating the leaping zombies in their entirety. No official confirmation came about until various consumers got their hands on the game earlier today as part of the Zero Day Edition.

It seems that the zombies footage and cut-scene were actually part of the bonus wave in Exo Survival, taking place in the Tier IV map Riot once you reach the last wave. However, according to GameStop, a full-fledged Zombies mode would be available in the game’s Season Pass, which costs $50 and includes four other map packs along with bonus weapons and items.

Thus far, there haven’t been any other details such as whether this would introduce the mode itself, apart from Exo Survival, or just add a Zombies twist to pre-existing maps but it’s there. All that remains now is to see what Sledgehammer Games has to say. Stay tuned for more information.

In State of Decay players will be able to free-roam in the open world zombie apocalypse. In the game,  you must be able to find ways of surviving the apocalypse. As a survivor,  you can break into gun shops to get weapons, police stations and of course find abandoned houses to survive for the night.

The unique thing about State of Decay is that everything you do in the game is all dynamic and has an effect on the gameplay in the future. As time passes, zombies will attack different settlements, so you have to be prepared to expect an attack and counter it. You may also find other survivors in the world and players will be able to recruit them for a better chance of surviving.

The game is quite ambitious, and is coming out on the PC and Xbox 360 and will be available this week on June 5^th.

The video showcases a map named “Bridging the Hedge” and is apparently a Zombies mode map. Considering that the focus has been on multiplayer till now, with only one new Zombies map and mode announced, it could be possible that the next DLC focuses on the mode exclusively.

Of course, the validity of the video – and even a leaked screen that later released – is in doubt. Gamers on the Call of Duty forums are already calling bullshit and of course, there’s been no official confirmation. Regardless, there will be new DLC releasing in the next couple of months.

It’s just extremely unlikely that we’ll be hearing details so soon after Revolution’s release. Check out the loading screen footage below and make up your own mind.
