If you are looking at playing Zone of the Enders on a modern system, but without ponying up for the VR remake of the second game, you’re in luck. Zone of the Enders HD Collection, which was, you guessed it, an HD collection of the two Zone of the Enders games released for the previous generation consoles, has been added to Xbox One’s backward compatibility feature. So, you’re playing an emulated version of an HD port of two PS2 games on your Xbox One. Kinda neat.

While Zone of the Enders: HD Collection is the headline game of this new batch, it’s not the only one- also added to the list of backward compatible games is Rumble Roses XX, a fan service heavy fighting game with female wrestlers and fighters featuring, well, a lot of fan service. It’s definitely not safe for work. Or home, if you live with family.

So, just Zone of the Enders: HD Collection, then.

Konami has announced that the Zone of the Enders HD Collection is now available for download on Xbox Live Games on Demand and PSN. They have also announced the pricing and it will cost $34.99 and the equivalent on XBLG.

The essential Zone of the Enders series features thrilling robot fights in a futuristic interplanetary setting.

Players experience high-flying robot combat as they grab enemies, unleash a whirlwind of blade strikes and fire off guns from a distance, all while spiraling freely in open air.

Partnering with legendary animation house Sunrise, Zone of the Enders HD Collection also includes a brand new opening animation, as well as fully up-resed renders of the opening animations from the original games.

There has been no new Zone of the Enders game announced but this HD Collection will give fans enough to chew on until Kojima actually does something about it.

And besides providing a great look into the game’s mechanics, it also best showcased the game’s hyper-fighting in the battle with LQ-84i or the Bladewolf. Nothing too big – he’s just a mechanized wolf with a razor sharp tail that can manipulate a chainsaw mounted on his head.

And while no doubt there have been gamers to put him on the endangered species list, Konami has released their own video detailing the best ways to beat down Bladewolf. Aside from blocking at the right times, using the right combinations of heavy and light attacks, and slicing him into pieces at the very end, we’d say it’s pretty straightforward. But it’s still an awesome look into the fast-paced mechanics of the game, which will release for PS3 and XBox 360 in February 2013.

We get to see Leo Stenbeck, both in his child avatar and grown-up stance, piloting both the Orbital Frame Jehuty and the Vic Viper (a nod to Konami’s own Gradius series). Of course, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner protagonist Dingo Egret has his time to shine as well, as we see him confronting entire fleets of robots, besides going head-to-head with the enigmatic and highly evil ANUBIS.

It’s good fun and a great adaptation of the classic Playstation 2 franchise which should be checked out by games and any one looking for a stellar mecha experience.

Konami has announced the limited editions for Zone of the Enders HD and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The latter contains a cool looking lamp. And yes, I know what you’re wondering, but as odd as it sounds, it looks friggin’ awesome. We have pictures too, which you can check out below.

The MGS Rising: Revengeance Limited Edition contains a full copy of the game, official soundtrack, Limited Edition 2-sided Steelbook, and an exclusive high-frequency katana blade plasma lamp. It will be available on February 19th for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection meanwhile will be released on October 30 and will contain the gold, metallic packaged bundle will include a full copy of the game with the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo, an import soundtrack featuring remixes of the music from the series, and a 100 page art book featuring new work from Yoji Shinkawa.

This collection will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well.

And play two classic mecha action titles, fully remastered in HD, but you know, priorities and all that.

For those unaware, Zone of the Enders follows giant Orbital Frames in a futuristic universe where humanity really doesn’t get along. The Orbital Frame Jehuty is common to both games, along with the snazzy animated cutscenes. Speaking of which, animation house Sunrise, has included a brand new opening animation and handled all the up-resing for the original animations.

Now shut up and give Kojima your money.

Check out the opening movie above. The game was actually handled by Hideo Kojima, who produced the title and worked closely with Konami Computer Entertainment Japan on it.

The HD revision is being handled solely by Kojima Productions however and looks drop-dead gorgeous. Now where’s ZOE 3?
