Hearthfire, to me, sums up what a colossal failure Bethesda has done with Skyrim in general. Never mind it's a big open game with tons of quests, cities, towns, people and whatnot, it's just that despite everything they put into the game, it feels so utterly empty. Nothing you do, from the main Alduin story line, to any other story line seems to have any ultimate impact on the overall environment. You the king of thieves, no one seems to notice or care. You the master assassin, no one seems to notice or care. You can do all of this shit and all it boils down to in the long run is a few unique dialogue lines from guards.

But let's get back to Hearthfire. It's buggy. No surprise considering the rest of the game is as well. Lights don't work, if they do work then they might as well not be there if it's a performance saving issue. You can build a home in the middle of nowhere. Great, so what. You wife doesn't ever show up. At least not on my install. Bards moonwalk, your choice of construction options aren't really choices at all. I mean, is it so much to ask for to have an official house in game that has everything?! Forge, enchanting, alchemy, kitchen, library? The construction options I go with usually are the trophy room and armory. Of course that leaves out a library tower or kitchen. To which i'm sure Bethesda's response would be, "Well you have two other houses you could build." Right, like i'm going to march my happy ass all the way across the pale just to bake a loaf of bread.

I guess through all the bitching and complaining, what I want to see is Bethesda fix their already broken content. Not make more and call it 'adding depth'.
