Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards will be returning this year after a highly successful outing last year; this year’s outing will be on December 3, which means that like last year, it is in the same week as the PlayStation Experience (albeit the two events will be in different cities this time).
Last year’s The Game Awards were largely great, with nominations and winners that most people could agree with, and some great reveals, including Metal Gear Solid Online for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Super Mario Maker, King’s Quest, and the world premier of the new, upcoming Legend of Zelda game for the Wii U. Hopefully, this year’s even does not disappoint either.
An advisory board that includes EA COO Peter Moore, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, Hideo Kojima, Xbox boss Phil Spencer, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Shawn Layden, Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot, Warner Bros. Interactive president David Haddad as well as Valve and Rockstar, have pledged support, which implies that as with last year, Keighley has some big name backing, at the very least.
As with last year, sales and discounts are expected to accompany the airing of the event; as with last year, you can either watch the event live (get the tickets from the official website), or watch it livestreamed on Twitch, YouTube, uStream, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Nintendo Network, or Steam.
