The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Sequel Producer Says It Will Be A Darker Experience

We're going to go to a darker place in Hyrule.

There was a lot of surprises at Nintendo’s E3 Direct yesterday. I’d say its fair to say that the biggest one was dropping that a sequel to the critically claimed and best-selling The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It didn’t even get an official name, but that didn’t stop people from buzzing like crazy on it. The trailer gave mysterious, dark vibe, and that was no coincidence, according to producer Eiji Aonuma.

It in an interview with IGN, Aonuma talked about various aspects of the game and noted how many of the younger designers on the game were fans of Red Dead Redemption 2. Another thing he addressed was people noting the darker tone, and the parallels between this and Ocarina of Time and its direct sequel Majora’s Mask. He said, though, the game isn’t really inspired by Majora’s Mask in the way people are thinking, but it is going for a darker experience this time around.

“The new Breath of the Wild or the sequel to it, it’s not necessarily going to be related to Majora’s Mask or inspired by it… What we showed you currently is a little darker,” Aonuma said.

The sequel to Breath of the Wild is announced for the Nintendo Switch. We’ll keep you posted on any new information that pops up about the game.
