Look at the map, take the great plateu and multiply it’s size 14 times and you will see that the area you will get coresponds to the entire map quite well. The world of Twilight Princess is about the same size as the great plateu in BotW. Therefore Nintendos statement that BotW is 12 times bigger than Twilight Princess holds quite true.

The great plateu making up only 1 percent of the game refers to the amount of content, not map size. Multiplying the great plateu by 100 results in a MUCH bigger map than the pictures of the BotW map.

61 sq/km is still big and still bigger than skyrim. 12 times bigger than TP sounds great too. Don’t forget that this world is also open and free and is for the first time going to feel natural and alive with full of things to do. Not just empty space like in TP. This will result in the world feeling a lot bigger than 12 times the size of TP, allthough it isn’t

Empty Space isn’t all that bad, unless it literally has nothing.
