The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Rated in Korea Ahead of May 2023 Launch

Fears of a potential delay may be somewhat allayed, with the highly-anticipated sequel having been rated in Korea.

Even in a year that’s looking as packed as 2023 is right now, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is looking like one of its biggest upcoming releases. Earlier this year, Nintendo finally gave the game its official title and confirmed that it would be launching in May of next year- but of course, as is the case with any major game these days (Zelda in particular), there have been many who’re concerned about a potential delay.

While it remains to be seen whether that ends up happening, recent developments might give you reason to be optimistic. As spotted by Gematsu over on Twitter, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been rated by the Game Ratings and Administration Committee (GRAC) in South Korea. That’s significant because the process of classifications for video games tends to happen towards the tail end of their development, when they’re relatively closer to launch.

Of course, this isn’t concrete evidence that the highly-anticipated Breath of the Wild sequel is safe from a delay (the Zelda franchise has a terrible track record on that front), but fans can at least be optimistic for now.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is scheduled to launch for the Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
