This next gen is going to be interesting. This current gen is the first where we’ve accumulated things, games we’ve bought, achievements/trophies, wallpapers,avatars. Will we get to keep all that? Will the next gen systems have a way to transfer all this to these new systems? or do we lose everything? No one is asking this except me.

The big guns have been working on Xbox 720 games for the last 18 months, anyone who thinks otherwise is living in a cave. Remember that the Xbox 360 is getting on for 6 years now. But the Xbox 360 could go on for a few more years yet, but most developers want more power now, the the Xbox 720 will be out earlier than thought. On top of that, Microsoft want to get a foot in first, beating Sony with their PS4, and to compete with the Wii U head on.

Making a new console they will have to take the graphics to the next level, increase hard drive storage and make it more affordable to appeal to the digital distribution crowd and increase the disc size that video games come on. Use blu-ray or some other disc type such as HD-DVD (I know it’s defunct). There is certainly no way they will be able to get away with selling only by downloading (digital distribution) yet.

I would love to get the next gen of console but the current state of the economy adds a rather large hurdle, and I’m a fat guy!
