Of the many new games that were announced at The Game Awards a few days ago, perhaps the one that excited the most people was The Outer WorldsObsidian’s new sci-fi first person RPG. And it’s not just the fans that are excited about it either- according to Obsidian, this is a game that the studio has been wanting to make for a long time, and with the help of Take-Two’s Private Division, one that they now finally get to make.

Recently, in an article posted on MMORPG.com, Obsidian’s Senior Producer Matthew Singh spoke about The Outer Worlds, saying that it’s a game that fans of Obsidian’s brand of RPGs will surely enjoy. “I think anyone that is an Obsidian fan will really enjoy this world,” wrote Singh. ” It’s something that I think a lot of people have been clamoring for from us. We have a pedigree with Tim and Leonard at the helm here.”

“We get to finally make this kind of game that we’ve been wanting to make for a long time with the partnership with Private Division we’re getting the chance to make,” he continued. “If you like the style of classic RPG Obsidian experience that we tend to create, you’re going to love The Outer Worlds.”

Lead Designer Charles Staples also chimed in, claiming that buoyed by the experience of Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky – the original creators of Fallout and now the project leads on The Outer Worlds – Obsidian is primed to make a special game. “We’re using all the experience that we have,” said Staples. “Tim and Leonard’s experience with making games, Obsidian’s experience in making the games that we love to make and working with Private Division to work on this whole new IP that really focuses on all of our experience on what we’ve done before into a new single player role playing game experience.”

From what we’ve seen of the game so far, The Outer Worlds definitely is looking excellent. It’s due out for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
