yeah wouldnt get 6 core skylake until late next year anyway so better togo with haswell one

SSD's are fast, same for me after its gone past POST its pretty damn quick and can start using the PC instantly.

I think if you put in an SSD it will probably load up the system damn fast, its got to start up 3 OS's really, windows, xbox, and the little one that bridges the 2 as virtual machines. An SSD might help that alot.

Just cant wait for for Star Citizen to release SQ42. after that ill be waiting for GTA6 theres nothing else really that a care that much about. Cyberpunk 2077 looks good but you know how that will go with the consoles involved

Chances are your monitor has higher pixel density. It really depends how far away you sit. I'm probably 6 feet away so I dont notice anything but at the same time my tv is basically a giant monitor anyways. Its full rgb with 36 bit color depth and supports all color modes. A lot of TVs dont have full monitor reference lvl rgb and a lot top out at 24bit rgb which isnt a huge difference but it doesn't effect darker shades of colors and black levels. I get really deep blacks for an LCD. Even up close the Samsung has better quality than the Sony but to be fair the Sony is older. The Samsung is about a year and a half old I think.

I Bought the media hub for my Xbox one. Its the thing that snaps on the side and hides a 2.5inch HDD and adds 3 USB ports. I had to import it from Canada but I was thinking about testing it with an SSD. It won't be that much faster because its still a SATA port but it might help. Now that I boot off a PCI express ssd I'll never go back on PC. Cold boot into win 8.1 and 10 is about 6 seconds from UEFI post.

No I haven't seen the skylake boards. I personally went with a gigabyte x99 UD4 which has more than enough ports and pcie lanes for my needs.

nice, my TV doesnt look as good as my monitor, ive tried it on my PS4 and just cant seen to get the settings to match my monitor it just doesnt look as good or could be because monitor is 24inch and TV is 47inch so pixels arent as dense. Might play witcher 3 through my TV at the weekend see if its similar because it is hooked up to my TV as well.

6 core nice, i was thinking of getting a 6 core as well but for Dx11 is probably better but for DX12 not so sure if there will be much difference but theres plenty of time between now and then to see how it performs. Also have you seen the first skylake motherboards? 3 M.2 ports, 6 sata 3 and 3 sata express (not sure if the sata express on them boards take up 2 stata 3 lanes to use it) Samsung will be making the first true to form and cheap NVMe M.2 SSD's using there V-Nand tech. Should be quite cheap by the time end of next year roles around.

Ive got my witcher 3 on my SSD loads pretty quick as well. Really funny how the console guys are moaning about long load times on witcher 3 which is normal for openworld game with no loading unless you fast travel. doesnt affect us SSD users though does it hahaha :D

I darent overclock anything i broke my last card doing it, i messed up the memory on it fortunately i just said it was defective and took it back the shop hahaha got a new one :d then just left it alone

i think the new 290's will overclock better well the 300 series version at least

I dont really pay much attention to display tech. I dont own a monitor. I have the PC in my living room hooked up to a 70inch 240hz samsung LCD and at my "desk" I hook it up to a 32 inch Sony LCD.

I went with a i7 5820k. Thats a 6 core 3.3ghz cpu. I currently run it at 4.4ghz with load temps around 35 degrees C at the top end and it idles at about 23C. I paired it with 16 gigs of DDR4 and the 290x and a 250 gig PCIE SSD (loads witcher 3 in 15 seconds) and a 3TB WD Black platter drive on a 1000w PSU for future GPU additions.

The only problem with current AMD GPUs which hopefully is fixed with the new ones is over clocking. You can boost the memory by about 400mhz without issue but the core only goes about 100mhz before it starts to have issues.

Funny thing is temp isnt the problem it's just a core thats bad at over clocking. I have a sapphire tri-x and I get nowhere neat thermal limits. Fans never spun above 35% either. I dunno if the entire 2xx series is that way but the 90 definitely is. Did a lot of searching for any tips to push it further but nobody has had any luck.

I even tried using a phase change cooler on it. I removed the top of the card and got the temp to around 10 degrees C and even then it just refused to work at higher clock speeds. Unfortunate because the card could definitely punch further above its weight if it could be made stable.

yeah that is a good reason to upgrade hahah. ive got an i7 950 so first gen but its still going good and with DX12 the lower IPC count over newer chips wont matter as much any more so will breathe new life into it.

Can buy a 290x for £240 which is pretty cheap Asus one. Cant see that price getting any lower really with the 290x rebrand coming because its supposed to have 8GB standard so that will keep the price higher.

Im thinking either Zen or Cannonlake next year. Zen is supposed to have the performance around that of a haswell chip but with DX12 i dont think it will matter that much unless games rely more on single threads still.

I want to go 4K but depends how heavy SC is on your rig at its highest load point but by that time we'll know what we need :D if i cant go 4K ill buy a really good 1440p IPS panel with high hz rate. Ive read the colour reproduction on IPS is alot better than a TN panel??

I considered waiting but Intel's roadmap for this year was basically same amount of horsepower at lower wattage and temps. I just finished my build about a month ago. I really couldn't wait because I was using a 5ish year old gaming laptop and it just didn't cut it anymore. It had a geforce 555m with 5 gigs of memory but its such an old GPU I'd get low frame rates at basically any settings.

no im just going get a new GPU for the mean time then hopefully will build a new system end of 2016 start of 2017 because thats when all the new juicy tech will be out. Im trying get my CC down so i can put it on that. Pends if i go on holiday and all that stuff to which will slow it down. I could work over time but i hate where i work so ill have to dig deep if i go down that road :d

I dont blame you for a second. Did you end up building a whole new system or did you just get a new GPU?

yeah probably. i just want something beast to make sure im up there. dont want no slowdown. Whatever the game looks like now i can guarantee it will get upgraded again by the end of next year to release hahah Like SQ42 because it uses the same assets as the PU i can imagine that getting better looking through next year as well :D

I think they should add DX12 themselves to it rather than waiting for Crytek, soon as the 64bit conversion is fully complete that team in Frankfurt should start on the dx12 implentation

I'm running exactly what I think I am through driver cp. Using resource monitors to check frame rate, GPU core and memory utilization as well as cpu and system memory plus temps and I capture everything I play at 1080p 60/fps 60mbps CBR so I can compare settings differences to get the best possible image AMD frame rate. AA isnt something they need to implement anyways, the engine isnt exactly new they just took the crysis 3 crytek toolset and started using it then later implemented updates from ryse. Its all solid as a rock engine wise and likely won't change at all before release.

Using resource monitors to check frame rate, GPU core and memory utilization as well as cpu and system memory plus temps and I capture everything I play at 1080p 60/fps 60mbps CBR so I can compare settings differences to get the best possible image AMD frame rate.
