While I don’t know or care how well Xbox X will sell, with consoles I’m settled in just fine with my Pro, I am very happy seeing news like this.
Competition is good for all gamers. You watch, the fact Microsoft has so many developers upgrading an X version of their One games all but guarantees you’ll see a huge surge in Pro enhanced games as well from 2018 on.
And I am also grateful for the Xbox X’s superior hardware, because it’s like the old days when the original Xbox was a superior hardware to the PS2, so to combat that Sony dug deep and put out greater games and a huge library of unique titles than ever instead of trying to match the graphics.
And for me, the difference of native 4k and checkerboard is slight. Not to take away from X, Tomb Raider is clearly better looking on X than Pro.
But that’s the thing. It’s ultimately better, but the Pro is still damn good looking.
When comparing lower resolutions, like when One’s games were at 720p or 900p compared to 1080p, that mattered in the way that less than 1080p you could actually appear blurry.
But now we’re talking super sharp to super, super sharp. For me graphics matter to a point, but games will always matter more, especially now that we’re at 1080p and up resolutions.

But what’s happening now, all gamers win.
Want the best console graphics? Grab an X.
Want the best and most console first party games? Grab a Pro. (or a basic, but if you buying one new now, why wouldn’t you go Pro?)
And I hope Microsoft hangs in there. Because if X sells, that’ll also mean all the greater sales more often for both console owners as the two corporations fight for our loyalty.
