resident evil 4 was an awesome game(like #5 better) but for 2000-2009 this is a great list. im gonna play ur honorable mentions the orange box and Shadow of the Colossus(never played them) bioshock was an outstanding game and brought a new game that i would never thin of playing until some recomended it and it become my favorite game beat iu=t finally like a month ago got a sad ending=(. y would you kill these litle girls everytime i did it i felt bad. so ima beat with saving all of them cute gurls

Resident Evil 4 REALLLY??? I dunno what did it do so well that it defined gaming after it came out. I’m sorry but I really feel after seeing that, the whole list losses it’s credibility. RE4 was a great game and set the bar so high that RE5 couldn’t even compare but outside that I’ve never heard anyone compare anything to what RE4 did. Just my opinion

In reply to David Macphail. That is a bold statement since there are far more PC gamers than console gamers. AA PC game could easily win Game of the Year, unfortunately this year was dominated by Uncharted 2.

I would add Pro Evolution Soccer to this list. I’m so glad that this decade we were blessed with a proper Football game that saved us from the clunky, awkward mess that is Fifa.

Also Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy and Ratchet & Clank deserve a mention. Oh, and Assassin’s Creed and Fallout 3 as well.

That's because PC games are garbage and have bad graphics. Go back to playing World Of Warcraft with your little sister, leave real gaming for people who own proper gaming consoles.

That would be why it won GOTY at the VGA’s then? Xbox 360 games aren’t good enough to win GOTY but fortunately U2 is a PS3 game, meaning it has graphics that aren’t so bad they make your eyes bleed. 360 games are a joke…….which is why Uncharted 2 was the only game this year that was GOTY worthy. Nice try, Xbot, come back when your console’s CPU can handle more than 4 calculations in a minute.

^^ I hope you’re kidding about Oblivion… that game blew.

As far as games that made us say “WOW” I find it very shocking that SotC didn’t make it on the list. That entire game is one long “Woooooooooowwwww!!!!1!eleven!!111!1!!!!”

Either way, I understand why you chose RE4. It was the game that really brought 3rd person shooters to the forefront of console gaming AND had plenty of “wow” moments.

PoP:SoT is the only game i don’t think deserves a spot on this list.

I’m sorry, can someone translate for me, I don’t speak imbecile.

I think the author could well be right. Resi 4 was, and still is to me, the pinnacle of survival horror and was a genuine generational leap above the previous titles.

To me it’s far superior to the 5th installment. The story and villians were more interesting, the graphic design was better, it was far more tense and it didn’t have a pretty hopeless AI partner walking around you and getting in the way.

No the controls weren’t perfect but when compared to Resi 5 you can see how the areas you visit were designed to accommodate them brilliantly so you didn’t notice that your character was basically a walking turret.

There may be ‘better’ games out there but there are few that are so chock full of memorable events and excitement. I may have personally chosen a different title but I certainly can’t fault the author’s choice nor indeed the list in general.
