Battle for Middle Earth 2, I believe, was released on console as well, but it shared some of the same problems. Nevertheless, it’s much more complex than Halo Wars was, but that’s not really saying a whole helluva lot.

I honestly think the best way to go about doing an RTS on the console is not to replicate a ten-year-old gameplay system – essentially porting over an Age of Empires II style rock-paper-scissors schtick – but to craft games that are inherently console oriented. Something like a low-key, scaled back RTS that follows one general/admiral/something with a completely new kind of gameplay orientation. Something like Napoleon: Total War, meets Mount & Blade, focusing on tactical planning (think of… Gratuitous Space Battles?) pre-battle and action-heavy combat in-battle.

Amazon has a pretty good deal on the pre-order stuff; it’s not listed anywhere, but it has a combination of the stuff from best buy and gamestop. A couple extra historical battles and a money boost at the beginning, if I remember correctly.

i have to agree, some games are just not going to work on consoles, specially strategy ones. the mouse is just the only way to play them and using a move or kinect or regular controller will frustrate the player.

Now I have to decide where to pre-order this from.
