Nintendo’s Smash Bros. series has grown in scope and esteem over the years. What started originally as a crossover fighting franchise for Nintendo games and characters, as a celebration of Nintendo and its history, has turned into a celebration of gaming as a whole. Over the last few years, third party characters such as Sonic, Solid Snake, Cloud, Bayonetta, Ryu, Mega Man, and Pac-Man have all shown up in Smash.
With a new Smash Bros. for Switch on the horizon, speculation on what characters might be included in its roster is at a fever pitch. And developers themselves seem to be joining in, too. For instance, speaking to DualShockers at PAX East, Suda51, the director of the No More Heroes franchise, as well as the upcoming Travis Strikes Back, the newest entry in the series, talked about Travis Touchdown showing up in the new game.
“Of course [I’d like to see him in the game], but it’s up to the media people. They have to take a stand and make Nintendo put him in the game,” he said.
So… I guess it’s time to start petitions and stuff to have Travis included in the upcoming game? Super Smash Bros. and Travis Strikes Again are both due out on the Nintendo Switch later this year.
