Twitch Introduces Music Library for Streamers

More than 500 songs available for free usage.

Twitch had quite the year in 2014. Even before it was eventually acquired by Amazon, the video game streaming service had introduced a new audio recognition protocol that was able to detect copyrighted music in streams. As a result, many streamers had their audio completely blanked out.

Though there is an appeals button for those who wish to contest any copyright infringement claims, Twitch has taken the next step and introduced a music library for streamers. Containing more than 500 songs, the library is available completely for free and without any copyright issues.

Interestingly, along with different music labels who can sign up to have their music used by streamers, indie artists can also sign over their songs for use in Twitch streams. It’s a rather intriguing system – all that remains is to see how streamers react to it.
