Total rumour; The dude has read between the lines. And failed horribly. Read the quote from Shinya Takahash and tell me how that translates into 'Yes, we are in fact developing both a new 2D, and a 3D Metroid game simultaneously'. The guy who's wrote the article has clearly had a 'mare here...

In reply to <a href="https://gamingbolt.com/two-new-metroid-games-in-development-prime-style-game-included#comment-235727">andy cadle</a>.

Exactly. How they've come to the conclusion that there is in fact two new Metroid games, all because Shinya Takahash has said that there are two types of Metroid games as in the Prime series and the 2D scrolling series is laughable...For the record, think I prefer the 2D Metroid games- Probably because the first one in the series I played was Super Metroid, and we all know how epic that was.
Incidentally, can only call on Nintendo franchises being freely interchangeable between 2D/3D games- We've had both varieties in the Mario universe, the top down and 3D Zelda games, both 2D/3D Metroid games, and even Donkey Kong took the 3D route once upon a time! Think Nintendo are the only company who's flagship franchise games are strong enough where they can be brave enough to switch between the two- Literally struggling to think of any other instances.
