Unless the U.K. is some kind of sales anomaly relative to the rest of the western world, what should be pretty obvious is that Call of Duty sales have declined precipitously. The worst hit took place in 2013, where middling Call of Duty Ghosts review scores and the transition to 8th gen literally sliced Call of Duty sales in half. Sales of future, superior titles (Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3) have not been able to recover since then.

Unless next year’s Call of Duty drastically shakes up the aging formula, Call of Duty will likely never be able to stop its sales decline. It’s still a chart topper right now, and a huge force in the industry, but that may not be the case 5-6 years from now, should this level of decline continue.
