Actually Ready at Dawn isn't a Sony first party studio. They're still independent:

They've just made games for Sony platforms. There was a rumor out a few weeks ago, that if The Order 1886 sells well that Sony would buy them. Not sure how true this is though.

Din't know they were in-house ... that really bothers me for future installments ... I guess we will have to wait and see ... Almost like the first 'Mirrors Edge' only difference , we got a lot more ..hopefully things get better in the future for both systems .

Ready at dawn is a Sony studio and Sony most certainly extended the budget because the game was delayed. They also had the help of another Sony first party studio in Sony Santa Monica.

I dont think budget or time was the issue. Sony appears to have given them plenty of both. The issue here was creative direction from concept to execution. By the time they were play testing and crunching to finish it was already too late to flesh out gameplay sections. The fact that they decided to also use so many QTE areas is mind boggling.

Me , I actually believe their vision was spot on but, it's who you choose to partner with to see your vision become a reality is the problem here..
When choosing the the ideal partner to suit your needs , you must take some things into consideration .
1-will this company back us if we fall financially (max out budget) =that didn't happen here.
2-does the chosen partner have the resources that are needed to complete the task ?
3-Will the company act as if the exclusive is one of their own , or will they step aside leave us only to our resources to work with ...

PS: It seems that once the contract was signed , it was all about just getting an exclusive , and quality(not visual quality) and replay value wasn't important at the time.

Releasing this when there is no other big releases has paid off for them though i suspect the numbers are still quite low and next week it will drop quick after the pre order numbers dry up and the large amount of pre owned copys become available.

The PS4 is starved for big games and this proves people will buy just about anything on the console at the moment even if it lacks gameplay.

I'm really hoping the game sells well enough for them to make another. The core of a good game is here. The shooting feels decent, the visuals are fantastic, the acting is great the story and world are interesting. It just has major pacing issues and way too many cut scenes. Actually scratch that the cut scene count is fine its the ratio of scene to gameplay that's the issue.

I'd love to see ready at dawn be given a second chance taking fan and review feedback into account. They could make something really special.
