UK Software Charts: Crysis 3 Debuts at Number 1

While Platinum Games takes the runners-up.

Crytek’s latest bleeding edge technology tribute and first person shooter Crysis 3 debuted at number 1 in the UK, knocking the controversial and highly panned Aliens: Colonial Marines from its perch to number 5 according UKIE Game charts via GfK Chart-Track.

However, Colonial Marines won’t be at number 2. Because for the first time in 2013, there’s a new number 1 and 2 debuting at the same time as Platinum Games’ Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance arrives in second place. This is especially interesting considering that it’s only 5500 units behind Crysis 3.

While Crysis 3 sold more on the Xbox 360 with 57 percent of the consumer base, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance found more fans on the PS3, with 61 percent consumers opting for Sony’s console.

It should be noted however that both Crysis 3 and MGR haven’t hit the same kind of launch numbers as Colonial Marines and Dead Space 3 (which is currently at number 6).

The rest of the chart is business as usual with FIFA 13 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in the number 3 and 4 positions, respectively.
