Always great to see my ESL Xpal try and justify that online fee he's been paying for 15 years. :)

Stop making movie games and maybe people will give a damn. They promote those terrible cut scenes for the Uncharted games instead of raw gameplay footage and then are surprised when nobody buys them. The latest one is a prime example..instead of showing gameplay (which they probably know is barely changed from UC 4) they show terrible cut scenes that nobody honestly cares about because the story is most likely boring trite

I think the problem is more that Uncharted games are basically interactive movies and their novelty has worn off, no one really wants to play them. If the same experience can be had watching someone play versus playing the game yourself it means your game has hardly any game play. BTW please don't give credibility to Polygon, they only really write two kinds of articles. Ones where they virtue signal or take offense to something, and ones where they protect, defend, or promote people they personally know in the industry (this includes their game reviews). This appears to be the latter.

All except Gears of War unlike Uncharted and most PS4 titles is a Multi player based game, the campaign is secondary to online multiplayer so it's always a different outcome.

How about you make a better game instead? If all you have is a story based shooter that goes into one direction like in Uncharted or Gears of War what have you excepted? At least Persona and certain Nintendo games are focusing on gameplay and with backtracking.

I can see her point. Critics have often cited Uncharted series more as a movie based on its cinematic productions even Sony pretty much made it into a movie for Netflix streaming. Their certainly games that try so hard to mirror movies like the uncharted series that tend to be watched a lot more. I think Warren Spector was right when he mentioned Naughty dog games were great but not great video games, if you think about board games for example they tend to be different every time just like PUBG the experience is different every time its pretty much why i think open world games with branching parts like rpgs are the way to go.

If a person goes to YouTube to watch a game instead of purchasing it then it seems they did not have the intention or the means to engage in the product in the first place. Many paying customers who do buy the game, potentially in the millions, may reference these videos to aid them through difficult challenges or frustrating puzzles that the product itself offers no support. I will not buy games from companies that lock out the youtube community through strawman copyright overreaches. So I guess there is that to consider. I likely would not be alone in this. It seems I concur with Holeybartender.

There's a big difference between watching a game and playing a game for it's experience. As gamers we want to be directly involved along the journey not as a spectator. People who care about watching streams of video games obviously are not interested in actually playing the game so they have absolutely no interest in buying them and therefore have no impact on game sales. I watch skateboard videos but it doesn't make me a skateboarder, however what it can do is inspire me to buy a skateboard and try it out.
