Microsoft’s market cap is roughly 450 billion give or take. Sony’s market cap is about 38 billion. Microsoft has well over 100 billion in cash, which is about three times what Sony is worth as a company.

Sony did go about a decade without making any profit. That’s not even up for debate, and the first time they did make a profit, they only made it by selling off assets. It won’t be long until they sell off their TV division.

The discussion was about Microsoft and Sony as a whole, not just the gaming division. Microsoft could ditch Xbox tomorrow and not lose a beat. If Sony lost PlayStation, they would he effectively dead as a company. Microsoft is a giant and has about 4-5 times as much cash as Sony is even worth as a company.
