PS Vita got a price cut in Japan recently and SCEJ president Hiroshi Kawano has revealed that this move has resulted in the handheld selling four times as much as it did before.
The price drop was announced at a Vita event which was broadcasted online, kind of like Nintendo Direct style.
The handheld used to sell in the 10,000 range each week and has also seen lows, but there could be massive boost with next week’s data which will be revealed by Media Create.
Gematsu translated this statement from a Japanese website, and it seems Sony is pleased with how the handheld is doing, however we don’t know whether this boost is temporary or permanent, although, it looks like the latter.
The handheld costs ¥19,980 currently in Japan and a western price drop hasn’t been announced yet.
